Taiwan has been ranked the second-happiest country in East Asia and the fourth-happiest in Asia, according to the World Happiness Report released by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. The report surveyed more than 150 countries and territories over a three-year period to evaluate happiness levels based on six factors: social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and absence of corruption.

While Israel ranked 4th globally, Singapore ranked 25th, and the United Arab Emirates ranked 26th, Taiwan was able to secure the 27th place worldwide. Although Taiwan was outperformed by Singapore in the East Asia grouping, the country was able to rank ahead of Japan, which ranked 47th globally. In the previous report, Taiwan was ranked first in East Asia and fourth in the broader Asia grouping.
