TW: domestic violence / controlling relationships.
In this week’s episode, Liv speaks to the total powerhouse that is Melanie Brown MBE, or Scary Spice to the masses. They talk about the hotly rumoured Spice Girls reunion (will it be at Glastonbury?), her wedding to fiancé Rory at St Paul’s Cathedral (will the other Spice Girls be attending?) the close relationship she has with her daughters, her discovery of spirituality and the latest chapters in her book: Brutally Honest.
In 2018 Mel B released her account of domestic violence during her marriage to Stephen Belafonte, and earlier this year added more chapters recounting her experience of alleged financial abuse during her divorce. Now an ambassador for Women’s Aid, Mel shows huge resilience in the face of hardship and shows how we need to be having this conversation, especially when women in Mel’s position fall victim to abuse.
