With Father's Day this Sunday, this is your official reminder- it's not too late to send a gift! Honoring the dads, granddads, and father figures in our lives is a great way to not only acknowledge them but also to give a nod to God for placing them in our lives.
I know that Father's Day can be a mixed bag. Not everyone grew up with a kind, loving dad in their lives. There are many dads themselves who struggle with regret or heartbreak because of the broken relationships they have with their own kids.
Regardless, this week is an invitation to lean into whatever you need to. It's a reminder that the story with your dad or as a dad isn't finished yet, there's still more to be learned, or still more to be grieved. So let the conversation I have with Michael W. Smith about his latest book be a guide to the reflection work you need to do.
Michael W. Smith, a multi-platinum recording artist, has won three Grammy Awards, forty-five Dove Awards, an American Music Award, and has sold more than fifteen million albums. He has also given back to the global community, having raised funds to battle AIDS in Africa alongside U2’s Bono; started Rocketown, a safe haven for young people in Tennessee to meet and find hope; and has helped to improve more than 83,000 children’s lives through Compassion International. With a career spanning more than four decades, Smith has also starred in two films and written fourteen books, including his newest The Way of the Father: Lessons from My Dad, Truths about God. He lives with his wife, Debbie, in Franklin, Tennessee. They have five adult children and sixteen grandchildren.
