When you think of a serial killer, you think of someone who lurks late at night, attacks when you least suspect it and sneaks away into the darkness. You rarely think there might be a serial killer lurking at a hospital, waiting to snuff your life out ahead of time.

Today’s story is about the scariest type of serial killer – the one who is supposed to make you feel better, but instead turns into an Angel of Death. This is the story of Reta Mays – a nurse’s assistant at the Louis A. Johnson Medical Center in West Virginia.

Dennis Zecca retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2006. He was last stationed at Station Islamorada. He was a Chief Warrant Officer with the prestigious position of Commander. After his retirement, he settled in Marathon, Florida, a small quaint island in the Florida Keys. All seemed well, until in 2012, he asked his employee to perform a hit on a local businessman by the name of Bruce Schmitt.

In 2003, Specialist Richard Davis and his unit returned from an Iraq deployment. Richard and 4 of his military buddies (Mario Navarette, Alberto Martinez, Jacob Burgoyne, and Douglas Woodcoff) decided to paint the town red while they were on their 2-day R & R (rest & relaxation). 

The next morning, when everyone reported to work, Richard didn’t show up. His leadership thought he’d gone on a bender, maybe he was with a girl, but after 48-hours, they contacted Richard’s father to inform him that his son was absent without leave (AWOL). Lanny Davis, Richard’s father, and a veteran himself knew something was off. And he began his search for his son. Four-months later, they’d find Richard…

In 2016, 20-year old Rina Shimabukuro vanished after sending her boyfriend a text message that she was going for a walk. Japanese authorities scoured CCTV footage for any evidence that would lead them to Rina. And they found what they were looking for when they saw an American in a red SUV buying salt from a local convenience store and pouring some inside his car.

When they tracked down the man in the red SUV back to Kadena AB, they discovered the man was Kenneth Gadson Shinzato – a U.S. Marine veteran.

Margot also digs into the 1995 Okinawa rape that began a movement to get U.S. troops off of the island of Okinawa. The perpetrators in that case were: Marcus Gill, Kendrick Ledet, and Rodrico Harp.

In June 2012, while working at a Dominos Pizzeria, Ashley Biggs was sent to deliver a pizza. The delivery location was only 5 minutes from the Dominos, so when she hadn’t returned an hour later, her supervisor became concerned. Ashley Biggs was immediately reported missing. Within arriving to her last known location, police knew Ashley had been met with foul play, when a pool of blood was located in the vacant parking lot of the delivery location. A search quickly ensued, ending in the arrest of Ashley’s baby daddy – a man by the name of Chad Cobb.

High School sweethearts, Michelle and Douglas Terek endured a long 3-year separation, while Michelle finished high school and got a degree and while Douglas was off enlisting in the Air Force. By 1990, they tied the knot and everything seemed perfect. Until it wasn’t.
