Lauren Smith-Fields met Matthew LaFountain (37, white male) on Bumble.   According to the New York Times, they met in person for the first time three days later.  This meeting occurred at Lauren’s CT apartment on December 11, 2021.  Sadly, Lauren was found dead by her Bumble date, Matthew LaFountain, just a few hours later on December 12, 2021.   Matthew LaFountain was the last person to see her alive.  The circumstances surrounding Lauren’s death have left more questions than answers.  Based on articles (please see sources), there were major mistakes made by law enforcement, including, but not limited to, not informing Lauren’s family of her passing.  As of today’s date (02/23/22), there has not been any additional information communicated to the public regarding Lauren’s case.   In this mini episode, we recount the details that have been provided to the public regarding Lauren’s untimely passing.

**Important Note** This case is still developing and an investigation is ongoing.  Therefore, Matthew LaFountain is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
