  • EP 15: Former CIA Boss On What Is Next for Russia’s War in Ukraine (Part 3)

As Russia’s war in Ukraine marks six months, we look at the state of play and what is next in an interview with former CIA Acting Director Michael Morell.

In part 3 of our conversation, Morell delves into the balance on the military and economic battlefields, whether Ukraine's will to fight will overpower Russia's ability to fight, how the CIA conducts psychological analysis of foreign leaders and why he thinks the tide could be turning in Ukraine's favor.

In recent weeks, we have rolled out deep-dives with Morell on China & Taiwan, as well as al Qaeda and Afghanistan.

    • EP 14: Former CIA Boss Takes Us Inside Situation Room & War On Terrorism (Part 2)

One year after the disastrous withdrawal from Kabul, we bring you perspective from former CIA Acting Director Michael Morell. He helped lead the fight against terrorism in the region and around the world for more than a decade, including the operation to kill Osama Bin Laden.

Morell joins Mosheh for a conversation to discuss why he is concerned about al Qaeda’s resurgence, how the US withdrawal from Afghanistan has impacted the war on terror, and how the US needs to approach the fight moving forward. He is the only person who was with President Bush on 9/11 AND President Obama on May 2, 2011, when the operation to kill Bin Laden was launched. Morell is currently the host of the Intelligence Matters podcast and a senior national security contributor for CBS News.

In this episode, Morell takes us inside the White House Situation Room and tells us what types of questions presidents have asked him during briefings. He also tells me why he is happy he no longer gets classified briefings!

It is the second part of a three-episode series looking into some of the biggest challenges and threats facing the US with Morell. Last week (Aug 10, 2022) dealt with China and Taiwan.

Next week’s episode (Part 3) will take us inside Vladimir Putin’s mindset as the invasion of Ukraine approaches the six month mark.

      • EP 13: Former CIA Boss Talks China War Threat (Part 1)

How close are we to a potential military conflict between China and Taiwan? Tensions are high with the Chinese conducting live weapons drills and practicing a potential invasion. It all comes in the aftermath of US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.

Former CIA Acting Director Michael Morell joins Mosheh for a conversation to discuss why he is extremely concerned about a Chinese invasion in the coming years, the role the US might play, the state of the US-China relationship and why the Pelosi visit may have been a major mistake.

Morell spent more than 30 years in the CIA, serving as Deputy Director and twice as Acting Director. He worked with multiple presidents, maintaining the CIA's relationships with foreign leaders, among many other duties. Notably, he was the only person who was both with President Bush on 9/11, and with President Obama on May 2, 2011, when Bin Laden was brought to justice. He is currently the host of the Intelligence Matters podcast and a senior national security contributor for CBS News.

It is the first part of a three episode series with Morell-- looking into some of the biggest challenges and threats facing the US. Upcoming weeks will delve into Afghanistan and the state of the terror threat, as well as an episode going into Putin’s mindset as the war in Ukraine approaches the six month mark.

        • EP 12: ‘I Love War, I Hate War’ A Veteran’s Story One Year After the Afghan Withdrawal

We will be marking one year since the beginning of the chaotic & tragic U.S. exit from Afghanistan next month. The rushed withdrawal brought America’s 20-year war to an abrupt end, allowing the Taliban to rapidly retake control of Afghanistan.

Mo News starts our anniversary coverage with a conversation with a US war veteran about their remarkable experience in battle and tough recovery here at home.

Mosh spoke to former Army Staff Sgt. Benjamin Sledge, who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He has a new book out, called "Where Cowards Go to Die," - a brutally honest portrait of war, bravery, and sacrifice. Sledge speaks candidly about the trauma of war and the mental health toll it has taken on tens of thousands of veterans.

Note: The episode starts with a few of today’s headlines.

How did the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire lose it all so quickly? This conversation takes you inside the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes, Sunny Balwani and Theranos.

Mosheh speaks with Rebecca Jarvis, ABC News' Chief Business, Technology & Economics Correspondent and creator of ‘'The Dropout' podcast. Jarvis also executive produced the Hulu series that premiered this series.

                • EP 8: Crypto Is Dead. Or Is It?

Summer is heating up but we're deep in a "crypto winter." Cryptocurrencies are having their worst year in a decade. The leading currency, Bitcoin, is down more than 70% from it's all-time high last November and the overall crypto market has lost nearly $2 trillion in value. At the same time, some crypto banks and so-called "stable coins" have gone bankrupt and several companies are laying off workers.

Crypto skeptics are reveling and saying "I told you so," while the hardcore HODL'ers say it will come back even stronger! So what is going to happen?

Mosheh interviews crypto-journalist and the author of the "Crypto Uncomplicated" newsletter, Zack Guzman. They talk about crypto’s past, what popped the bubble, how bad it might get, how to keep your investment safe and what the future looks like in this space. Guzman previously reported for Yahoo Finance and CNBC. His bottom line: We are finding out who is "swimming naked” and only the best crypto projects will survive this bloodletting.

In this edition of “The Mo You Know,” we talk about why some founders believed that July 2nd was actually the official independence day, the heated debate over whether the Declaration of Independence should mention slavery, and the remarkable coincidence of which presidents died on July 4th.

The Mo You Know is a special series looking at events in the news or history in 10 minutes or less.

After several weeks focused on the US, we are going global in our conversation this week as the US and major western powers hold meetings at the G7 and NATO.

Eurasia Group founder and political scientist Ian Bremmer has a new book out, where he lays out the challenges and solutions to what he says are the three biggest crises facing the world: climate change, pandemics and disruptive technology.

A leading thinker on global affairs, Bremmer talks to Mosheh about why he is an optimist and how the world can prevent catastrophe.

In his new NY Times best-seller, "The Power of Crisis," Bremmer draws lessons from global challenges of the past 100 years—including the most recent pandemic—to show how the global community might respond. He also talks about the latest in Ukraine, what is next for China, Iran and the state of the Middle East in the conversation.
