This morning we asked the RFS Headquarters about the Ebor fires and what resources and preparations are being undertaken.
At 8:56am, RFS Inspector Ben Sheperd sent through the following statement:
I want to ensure you that all is being done to contain the fires in the local area and across the state.
There is significant work currently being undertaken to the east of the fires burning both to the north and west of the Dorrigo, Thora and Bellingen areas. Of particular note is work being done in the Bobo River and Robinsons Knob areas.
Furthermore the RFS has facilitated a number of Community Meetings at Thora and Kalang. These were well attended and those in attendance expressed the appreciation of the efforts of firefighters and local brigades. Furthermore local community engagement efforts will continue in preparation should the fire continue to move towards this area.
If you require any further information please don’t hesitate to contact me and we can provide a local RFS member to talk about the firefighting effort and any associated preparation work.
