It all comes down to this, fellows and girls! The answer to the question "Is There Another Superman" will be answered once and for all! Who's been breaking into bank vaults and donating the proceeds to charity? Why have they been doing it? What was the goal? Well…yeah. We'll answer those questions too. Plus, in today's Important Message, the Swell Shell Casings are all gone, and none too soon thanks to Billy...
Part 13 of "Is There Another Superman" was originally broadcast on February 14, 1946!
PROJECT AUDION 72: Jimmy Durante - Garry Moore Show
Jimmy Durante: so famous for so many decades that just a caricature of his face was enough to elicit a smile. His outsized "Schnozz" matched the outsized personality from the 1920s through the 1970s. Even today, when his name and face are no longer common currency, his catchphrases and songs have endured. You can hear Durante singing in the "Joker" movie of 2019, imitated in lines from the "Lion King," and showing up every year in animated Christmas specials.
In this Audion Original, Pete Lutz revisits this unique talent, imagining a 1940s episode of the Jimmy Durante Comedy Caravan with his on-air partner Garry Moore, and guest stars Sydney Greenstreet and Rose Marie. "Everybody wants ta' get inta de act!" and they do for a half hour of mirth and music.

During an unspecified "government transition" in the near future, the young scholar Alejandra Cortez (no relation to AOC) returns home from Rhinebeck on an extremely rainy night and stumbles into a West Village café where she was once a regular during the Second Trump Administration. But aside from the rowdy RPG players, what happened to all the colorful eccentrics? Why does nobody remember the history of Café Gluck aside from an overworked barista named Sporschill? Who is the strange new owner claiming to be a "crypto king"? And why doesn't anybody remember the charming and eccentric old bookseller Jaime Abrego Mendel who set up shop in the adjacent card room every day? This full-cast 332 track standalone epic examines the true human cost of removing vital figures from American life. (Running time: 54 minutes)
