  • Living with and Learning from Burnout

Who better to talk about burnout than the burnout queen? Ava’s not proud, just honest. This week she’s feeling burnt TF out, so let’s talk about it. How did she get here? Can burnout be avoided, or merely minimized? While burnout is defined as a work-related syndrome, it’s wider reaching. Rather than blaming yourselves for mismanaging stress, let’s look at the reality of the world we live in and understand that heightened stress is the norm. Ava shares a few of her annual burnout stories (yes, one per year), what brought on these bouts of burnout, and what can be learned from them (including differentiating between unaligned and aligned burnout) and shares methods for managing burnout to bounce back better. If you’re feeling burnt out, know that it isn’t all bad. Burnout yields information to help make better, rich-bixch decisions moving forward.

  • Travel Talk: Laguna Beach, CA

Ava’s tour de California continues with a stop in easy breezy Laguna Beach. If you were raised on American reality TV, chances are you’ve heard of Laguna Beach. Ava shares her experience at a fabulous boutique hotel, complete with morning coffee service delivered to the room, poolside champagne, and beach views, and details her dining experiences with a few of the restaurants in town that will provide a solid bite to eat. Coffee in pretty butterfly cups set the tone for a stroll down main street dabbled with surf shops and crystal stores. Beaches and coves abound, the sunset can be caught from most places. With a bit of work, a bit of play, and lots of chill time, this beach town may leave you…dare we say…relaxed!

  • Unconventional Social Media Advice

Ava shares what may be considered unconventional social media advice. Inspired by her personal frustrations as a social media user in 2023, and by her role in contributing to the current collective experience as a social media coach and consultant who has worked in industry for 12+ years, sharing her unfiltered personal viewpoints feels risky, but necessary. Enough of the “shoulds” - it’s time to get realistic about expectations versus reality. Her viewpoints veer from the norm; not for lack of knowledge, but perhaps from a bit too much insight. Listen for advice on how often to post, how much value to offer (because not everything needs to be a damn TED Talk), responding to DMs, follower etiquette, actual authenticity, and so much more. If you’re fighting a constant love/hate relationship with the internet, this counterintuitive social media advice will deliver the fresh perspective you desire.

While this trip was a bit more chill than previous ones, Ava obviously has a few gems to suggest for your next trip. She also learned that moving at a slower pace and taking the time to catch up with friends are equally valuable elements of these travel review experiences. Tune in for the most boujee grocery store recommendation and best brunch move for your next visit to the City of Angels.

  • Carry-On Packing Essentials

Whether you’re packing for three days or three months, there are certain essentials that should always be packed in your carry-on. This week Ava’s packing up for a month on the road so the packing process is top of mind. She shares a run-down of everything that is (and is not) in her bag. With the overwhelm that packing can bring, it’s easy to lose sight of carry-on bag mentality, and even easier to cram too many liquids into your bag that inevitably end up in the airport trash, so tragic. In an effort to make your travel experience more enjoyable and be prepared for anything the universe throws your way, here’s a list of carry-on essentials you’ll want to pack (okay and one thing you should burn) for your next trip.

  • Navigating Self-Discipline

What do you think when you hear the word discipline? Chances are it’s a mixed bag. Today Ava explores the topic of self-discipline. While having self-discipline is necessary to accomplish your goals in life, there’s a fine line between healthy and unhealthy levels of self-discipline. After reading Discipline is Destiny by Ryan Holiday, Ava agrees with the author that self-discipline is critical to success and leadership, but still has reservations about too much of a good thing becoming a bad thing. She shares examples of healthy self-discipline practices that create good habits like nutritious eating and money-mindset, and also exposes personal moments where she has taken self-discipline too far. Ultimately, self-discipline comes down to balance. One should have enough self-discipline to enjoy life, but not too much self-discipline as to not enjoy life, ya know?

  • The Journey to Single and Happy

Ava the anti-cupid celebrates Valentine’s Day by sharing a guide to being single and happy in your 30’s. As someone who spent all of their 20’s in relationships, and all of their thirties (so far) single, Ava can finally say that she’s reached a point of contentment and happiness in being single. So much so that she didn’t even realize it was Valentine’s Day this week until she tried to make a dinner reservation at a booked-up restaurant. In reflecting on the journey to becoming single and happy (because if we’re being honest, it doesn’t always start off so happy) she’s identified five important phases that were helpful in her healing journey and shares them in case you find yourself single, or are considering becoming single in the near future. This episode will leave you feeling like being single is nothing to fear, and *dare we say* looking forward to the single life because according to Ava it’s pretty fucking great. Happy Valentine’s Day. XO

  • How to Social Media Detox

Do you feel more triggered than inspired after scrolling Instagram? Do you fall into hours-long TikTok binges? Are you bored because you’ve seen everything online? These are indicators that it’s time to do a social media detox. Ava shares three ways to detox your social media consumption that will help you have a healthier relationship with social media, and improve your mental health and wellbeing. These methods are tried and true and have helped Ava maintain a 12-year career in social media marketing without completely losing her shit (okay, maybe once or twice).
