  • Starting Over and Embracing Change

It’s a new year which means it’s a natural time to start over. Whether it’s setting new intentions for 2023 or packing up and moving across the country, it seems like everyone is starting over right now at some level. Ava is starting over too and is grappling with some annoying ass resistance to doing so. She shares four reasons why people don’t like to start over and offers up a set of reminders and rewards to use in order to counteract the resistance to making a change even when you know it’s the right thing to do. To be clear, starting over does not equal failure. You live and you learn and add to the plot of the story of your life. So when in doubt, YOLO. Whether you’re starting over in location, in business, in relationship, or in life as a whole, you’ll love this episode’s encouragement to do the thing, make the move, take the leap, and ultimately be more you.

  • Travel Talk: Atlanta, GA

Ava and Najee spend 48 hours in Atlanta, Georgia for their last travel review of 2022. They make the most of their short time together by taking a stroll through Piedmont Park, escaping the gloom and rain with a visit to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and do a bit of holiday shopping at Ponce City Market. Of course, no trip would be complete without some bar and restaurant stops. While the duo tried lots of options, their food experiences left a lot to be desired. They squeezed in a rich-bixch experience, opting for a Omakase (chef’s choice) 5-course meal on Saturday night, which started out strong with a salmon ceviche and then went downhill fast. Tune in for the comedy, and for some places to go - and avoid - during your stay in ATL.

  • 2000’s Cult Classic Movies

Nostalgia is hitting hard this week as Ava and Najee revisit some of the most iconic early 2000’s cult classic movies: Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, and The Devil Wears Prada. There’s something special about the movies that raise you, and the hosts agree that this is definitely the case with Mean Girls. Neither Ava or Najee were particularly fond of high school, but they definitely relate to many of the movie’s themes, from wanting to be in good standing with the popular kids to wearing pink on Wednesdays. They continue to stroll down memory lane with Legally Blonde and love Elle Woods’ authenticity, determination, and work-ethic. Whether it’s Harvard Law or something else, if you can dream it, you can do it. First jobs are a natural follow-up to the college era and Devil Wears Prada provides a great example of who not to work for, in addition to reminding us that making work your entire life is toxic. After revisiting these movies, the hosts are left lots of questions like; how to reclaim the word ‘slut’ for a more sex-positive society, whether people still say ‘hang up the phone’, whether anyone has successfully applied the bend and snap IRL, and if Legally Blonde is giving Aquarius or Gemini vibes? Tune in to indulge in these millennial musings.

  • Reclaiming the Holidays

Ava and Najee share their plans to reclaim the holidays this year as they head into the thick of it. Holidays are a magnifier and will amplify everything going on in your life; good, bad or otherwise. Traditions are great until they’re not. Whether you find the stretch between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve to be a bunch of bullshit or the best time of the year, the way you choose to celebrate the holidays should evolve along with you as we grow into your true self. Both Ava and Najee are sitting Thanksgiving out this year. Christmas and New Year plans are still up in the air, but it’s very much okay to skip the fanfare of the ball drop on NYE and opt to spend it on your couch with Miley Cyrus on NBC instead…Just saying. The co-hosts invite you to reclaim the holidays in a way that feels true to you. Say ‘to hell’ with tradition if it no longer serves, do something spontaneous with your besties, or spend quality time alone. Above all, take a moment for self-care this holiday season and do something that helps you feel more you.

  • Bucket List Travel for 2023

Ava and Najee love a good travel planning moment and jumped at the opportunity to pull together their travel bucket lists for the year ahead. While the co-hosts literally want to go everywhere, they’ve each prioritized three top destinations for 2023. With a list that spans 5 continents, 7 countries, and 10+ cities, there’s something in it for everyone. Ava and Najee both love the idea of traveling slower to soak up a destination before rushing to the next one, and are feeling the metropolitan city vibes. Najee’s picks thread a theme of world-class cities by nature, while Ava’s picks are a little all over the board. With rich-bixch wineries, boujee-bixch helicopter rides, and local-bixch cocktails, these bucket list destinations are a vibe sure to inspire your next travel adventure!

  • Boosting Creativity: How to Generate New Ideas

This week Ava and Najee compile their favorite tips to help boost creativity. While humans are inherently creative, the burnout that results from hustle culture depletes creativity fast, leaving the hosts looking for ways to boost creativity in times of need. The tips in this roundup range from intentionally doing nothing to doing the most with a complicated 6 thinking hats framework - it’s giving unhinged. Ava has a hard time listening to music with lyrics during creative work time because the lyrics get distracting and Najee has a solution for this. And no, it’s not listening to classical music because both hosts agree that classical is not the vibe. Artist dates are high on Ava’s list when it comes to creativity, and especially when those solo dates entail gluten-free cake baking. Najee loves leaning into collaboration and group settings that combine creative minds. They debate consuming content as another great source of creativity - so long as the creativity vs. consumption ratio is in check - extra points if you can do this without getting stuck in the rabbit hole. IYKYK.

  • Travel Talk: Palm Springs, CA

In this solo travel review Ava takes us on a journey through the Coachella Valley to recap her time spent in Palm Springs California. The weather and landscape are undeniably gorgeous, with ample blue skies, sunshine, palm trees, and mountains everywhere. However, the vibes overall present a mixed bag of emotions. The arguably aging population of Palm Springs had the co-hosts wondering where the millennials are at? Relaxing proved difficult for Ava so she headed to a wellness resort for a few days to experience the rejuvenating waters of the area’s famous hot springs, rich-bixch vibe unlocked. No travel experience would be complete without a solid lineup of dining recommendations, and this round-up has range; from a farm-to-table anti-vegan concept to grab and go savory crepes. Tune in to get the scoop from the city’s walkability lows to dining highs and everything in between.

  • Top Tier Zodiac Signs

This week Ava and Najee are taking the conversation back to the podcast’s Virquarius roots by talking about their favorite zodiac sun signs. While the co-hosts are not professional astrologers, they do love exploring relationships through the lens of astrology. Najee shares his top three favorite signs - aside from his own Virgo, and Ava couldn’t choose signs, so she shares her top three favorite zodiac elements. As an Aquarius Sun, Ava loves to hang out in outer space with her fellow air-signs, and anyone else who is willing to join. As a Virgo, Najee has appreciation for all the signs, while still maintaining a clear ranking system. Tune in to hear their hot-takes on the signs and let us know your favorite signs too!

  • Pros and Cons of Digital Nomading

Ava and Najee explore what it means to be a digital nomad, and confirm or deny popular perceptions about the work-from-anywhere lifestyle. The co-hosts attribute working in the travel industry to their constant wanderlust and extreme interest in nomading their way around the world. They discuss the ease (or lack thereof) of digital nomadism, cost considerations, and the trade-offs to make when choosing this alternate lifestyle. For example, digital nomading often requires a simplified, minimalistic approach to wardrobe and possessions - which can pose a challenge for some. Najee loves his stuff, and Ava’s in a phase where she can’t get rid of her stuff fast enough. As with any big life change, they discuss the importance of starting small, and doing it on their own terms aka working from a different location for a few days or weeks prior to jumping in head-first and selling the condo. While the digital nomad life ain’t easy, it is rewarding and offers a unique life experience.
