On this very special episode of Mormonish Podcast, Landon and Rebecca are joined by four wonderful married LGBTQ couples who still attend and love the LDS church. This episode shines a spotlight on how different this attendance looks for each person as we talk with Austin and Dallin, Tyler, Bethany and Jackie, and Steven.  

Becoming aware over the last few months of othe LGBTQ married couples who seem to enjoy full participation and fellowship in their LDS wards, we wanted to learn more. We were so honored to find four married LDS LGBTQ couples who wanted to share their stories. 

When you hear these stories together, it's clear that local leadership struggles with no clear direction from the top or any formal policy. What you are left with is a roulette situation and the lives of LGBTQ are negatively impacted. 

As we watch these four stories, we are struck by the desire of these couples to remain in the church and in their LDS community. Each story is different, with varying levels of participation allowed, which makes it all the more poinant.

With the LDS church taking ownership of the Kirtland temple recently, the missionary tour guides will be telling a very different narrative about the events that supposedly happened in the temple than the Community of Christ guides did.

The backdated and third party account of this heavenly visitation was changed into a first hand account which has become the official LDS narrative. On today’s episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon delve into the events of the past week surrounding the LDS Women’s broadcast and it’s aftermath.

When the LDS church reposted a statement from the devotional broadcast telling us that LDS woman has more power than any other women in any religious organization, on their Instagram, it garnered over 8000 comments from faithful LDS women. The comments indicated that they were disappointed in the statement and refused to be gaslit.

Mormonish discusses this almost unprecedented reaction and also shares stories we have gathered from social media from LDS women who have experienced the power structure and the lack of power for women within the LDS church.

This complex allegory is often pointed to as evidence that an uneducated farm boy like Joseph Smith could never have produced something so intricate as the retelling of this story.
