Morning Abundance: Seeing What Was Always There

A morning gratitude practice that works differently from most. Instead of listing things to be grateful for, this meditation asks you to imagine your life without the ordinary things you rely on — the chair beneath you, your pillow, your morning cup of tea — and then feel the relief of having them return. A gentle way to notice the abundance that's already here.

All episodes of Inner Peace Meditations are brought to you without adverts by the generous donations of listeners treating Steven to a coffee.

DETAILS

Level: Beginner Practice type: Gratitude, Visualisation Duration: 12:55

WHO IS THIS FOR?

  • You find standard gratitude practices feel forced or hollow
  • You've stopped noticing the ordinary things that quietly sustain your day
  • You want a morning practice that shifts your mood without demanding positivity
  • You tend to focus on what's missing rather than what's already working
  • You need a gentle reminder that your life is fuller than it feels

BENEFITS

  • A fresh approach to gratitude that works through absence rather than listing
  • A felt sense of appreciation for the ordinary things you'd miss if they were gone
  • A warmer, more generous start to the morning
  • A shift in attention from what's wrong to what's quietly right
  • A practice you can repeat informally throughout the day — just imagine life without something, then notice it's there

ABOUT STEVEN WEBB

Steven Webb is a meditation teacher, podcaster, politician, and the host of Inner Peace Meditations. A former mayor of Truro in the county of Cornwall, Steven continues to split his time between politics and the contemplative work he is best known for. After a life-changing accident left him paralysed from the chest down, he found his way to inner peace through mindfulness, Zen philosophy, and the teachings of Alan Watts and Shunryu Suzuki. He now helps others find calm and resilience — especially those who find meditation difficult. Steven lives in Cornwall, England and shares his work at stevenwebb.com. You can also find his podcast on politics and public life, Stillness in the Storms, at https://stillnessinthestorms.com/
