Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of James 2:14-18 which says "14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds."

"Today is exciting because we are all on fire to change. We are all longing to sing a new song. But my biggest prayer is that we include Jesus in our plans. What has he called us to do? Is it at the top of our lists? 

What word are you choosing. What are our motives. So many different questions to ask ourselves to truly align ourselves with the will of God over our lives. 

May today bring us new awareness, new clarity, and a new song. May we sing His praises is everything we accomplish this year. May we share the testimony of the one that changed our life. May we not fear and walk badly in the calling this year. "

"We care a lot. We care about a lot of things. We care about what we are going to wear. What others think. How many likes our next piece of content will get. We care about what car we are going to drive in, and the size of the house we live in. 

There are a lot of cares in the world, and sometimes we drown in them. As I prepare for the new year, and I look at the things I want to achieve, I want to be careful that I am set on producing righteousness strides in my health, career, finances, and spiritual life. 

I want to be the kind of person that cares about what really matters. I want to care about the actions I take, and the words I write and say. I want to care about who’s life is impacted because I was obedient when God asked something of me. I want to care about the ripple affects of every dollar donated. I want to care that my time here is not wasted but truly enriches the lives of others. I want to care about the food I put in my body, not because I want to look good in a dress, but because I want to live a healthy life."

"When I have bad days like these I snap at those that I love. I retreat. I shift my focus, I attack. 

I was reminded that my family, and my friends are not the enemy. I don’t have to lash out my anger and frustration on them, I have to recognize that these are evil rulers in the unseen world, and I am not fighting flesh and blood. 

So I give it to Jesus. I give it all to Jesus."

"...But in everything, I realized just how vital rest was. It’s a necessary ingredient to growth. Even in rest we grow, because it is in our rest that we learn more about our God. 

Our souls, they need rest. They need to spend a flicker, a moment of time in the presence of God. It’s spiritual medicine. It’s our lifeline. 

So let’s be intentional about resting this week. Let’s try and set 30 minutes a day to resting in the presence of God. Let’s go on longer walks, let’s listen to more worship music, let’s enjoy conversation. Let’s reflect on all that was accomplished, before we start making a list for all that we want."

"When things get busy I try and look for Christ but the world seems so loud, it’s hard to hear him. It’s hard to see him. I guess that’s where our faith kicks into overdrive. Like night vision goggles, ready to assist us when we can’t seem to see. 

He is the way, the truth, and the life. Even in my good days and even on my bad days, if I just remember to ask Jesus for help, I know all things are possible. 

So today I hold onto my lifelong a little tighter. I remember what this season is about and I celebrate the birth of a baby boy who saved the world from itself."
