Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Daniel 3:17-18 which says "17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."

"I don’t know who needs to hear these words this morning, but God will deliver you from the false gods you serve. We all have them. Some of us serve money, some of us serve social media, others serve our addictions, some serve fame, some serve vanity.

 

I pray we have the courage to declare God will deliver us, and even if He doesn’t, I pray we vow to remove the false gods in our lives. Let’s put the phone down. When you are at dinner with your friends and family, put the phone down.

 

Spoiler alert for the end of this story, God delivers them. He will deliver you, but you have to surrender it to Him. "

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Proverbs 13:12 which says "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life."

"There are things in our lives that we hope for and as time passes and those hopes do not come to pass, it’s easy to turn that smile into a frown. It’s easy to become overwhelmed, it’s easy for the heart to be sick.

 

We mourn over the thought that the one thing we’ve always wanted may actually never happen. Playing that reality in our minds is what hurts us.

 

This verse is saying, a loving fulfilled is a tree of life. This of course referencing when what you have hoped for has actually happened.

 

Today that which I have hope for for many years is happening. Today is my last day as a full-time employee. But I can’t lie if my heart wasn’t sick for a long time. When I got hired I told myself and everyone around me “I will be at this job for one year, and I will not work for another employer, I will be my own boss”

 

God delivered, but it wasn’t in my timing, it was in His. Three weeks ago I celebrated four years with the company. It didn’t happen when I wanted it to, but it happened.

 

Don’t forget that God knows what you are praying for. He is a faithful father, don’t let your heart become sick. You will get your tree of life. It just won’t be when you expect it."

"God is everywhere, He is in everything. He knows the episode had trouble uploading today. He knows I did my part, He knows people are in need of prayer and yet he is calm cool and collected, because all is going to work out. 

The same could be said in our personal lives. He knows you forgot to take out the trash and it’s overflowing on the side of the house. He knows that you didn’t get the clothes into the dryer on time so you ned to wash again. He knows that your favorite perfume fell and broke on the floor. But he also knows, that the doctor reports didn’t come back as you had expected. He also knows your child is struggling in school. He also knows that your career is treading a fine line because of some mistake at work. He knows the little stuff and He knows the big stuff. 

Sometimes we can’t fix the problem, all we can do is our part. All we can do is get the necessary things in order, and then we have to match that with faith that it’s going to get resolved, in God’s timing. "

"I don’t know what season you are walking through. I know a lot of us have worry on our hearts. Worry about the future. What degree should I pursue? Is my spouse going to be okay? How is my mom doing in this time. Will I ever find a partner in this life. Will I ever land my dream job. Will I ever become the parent I have dreamed of becoming. Will those adoption papers process in time. Will I find enough customers for my business to flourish.

 

We can look at our worry and be guilty of giving it the glory, we let it reign in our lives. Our one takeaway today is to remember the One who gives us life every day. Remember the One that is the only one deserving of glory. God is good. Forever and ever. He’s got us in the palm of His hand."

"Today I wanted to take some time for us to sit in prayer. It’s nice to start the day off looking for ways the Lord can speak into our personal lives, but it is equally necessary for us to pray for those who need it.

 

So if you are sick in your body, this prayer is for you. If not, please take a moment to think of all the people you may know who is battling an illness in their bodies.

 

If you don’t know anyone, if you would, please pray over my sweet friends mom who’s been battling cancer for a year. The cancer has spread and it might take a miracle, but the good news is that our God performs miracles.

 

No matter what happens, we know that God hears us. He hears our prayers, He hears our petitions as we fight and believe for those we love most. May they be healed in Jesus name. May He hear our cries. May He comfort us when we need it most. May we surrender when we don't know what else to do. "

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of James 2:15-17 which says "15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."

"True power comes from realizing that we can’t just hope for a better tomorrow, we can’t just have the faith that God is going to do perform a miracle. True faith understands that it’s much more than hoping, it’s about doing. It’s about active faith.

 

This means that we must fight for the future we are hoping for. It means that we can’t say “one day I am going to lose the weight I have the faith” and then not change our habits. We can’t think that one day “I am going to buy a home, God is going to do it” and then not put together a financial savings plan to ensure we make strides each day to get closer to that which we are praying for.

 

We have to match our faith with action, when that happens it will multiply. So what ever you are praying for, make a plan of action. Go after those dreams. Go after those hopes. Know that no matter what happens, God is by your side but He is asking you to take action. He is asking you to put your action behind your faith and trust Him in multiplying it. "

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Mark 16:15 which says "And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation."

"Then the picture flipped in my head. What if my peloton shoes represented my shield of faith in Jesus. What if my shoes showed that I was a Christian and what if I went into the world, and everyone knew I was a member of the Kingdom of God because of my bold shoes and I failed. Does that say anything about the credibility of the message of Jesus?

 

We are bound to mess up. We aren’t going to get it right. The world is going to have us looking for a cold towel to place on our necks. The world is going to hurt us and hold us back and sometimes the world is going to win and we are going to give into sin. It doesn’t make us any less worthy of our shield of faith. It doesn’t take away any credibility of the Kingdom of God.

 

After about 10 minutes of me lying on the floor, I got up, went back into the class and finished it. When you give into temptation, when the world questions if you are a Christian, get back up and finish the class. It’s not over yet and all we need to do is keep going, we can’t give up. "

"You can rest knowing that you are safe. You can look at this week and be thankful for all that you’ve accomplished and you can rest knowing that you won’t skip a beat.

 

I am guilty of the overworking. I am guilty of the “don’t stop until it’s accomplished” mindset. I fear that if I stop I will lose traction in all that I have accomplished but that is the furthest from the truth.

 

You see we get to be in peace. We can lie down and sleep knowing that the only things that keeps us safe, “for you alone, Lord” make me dwell in safety.

 

So that job you’re working so hard for? That business, those courses. All these things we give our attention to? None of them will bring us the safety and the security that God will.

 

Let us rest in that this weekend."

"I read this verse and I thought of all the things Jesus took to the grave for me. He took my arrogance, and all my faults. He took my need to be right. My need for validation. He took the gossiper in me. The one who falls short of righteousness.

 

But on that resurrection day, all of the good things in me lived. Those good things were given to me by my father in heave. The same can be said for you.

 

All of the good things live in you. The kindness, gentleness, the self-control. The purity of thought and action. The best version of you lives.

 

So when you feel like you start acting out of line, remember that those traits were taken to the grave. No need to dwell on it but look to the good that lives within. That is the power you can tap into to change the day ahead. "

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished."

"But today’s verse isn’t about resting, today’s verse was the perfect verse for this Wednesday morning! We are half way through the week and we have word to do. So do the work. Don’t be afraid, don’t be discouraged, because even when you are tired, even when you want to rest your eyes, God is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. We gotta keep doing to the work.

 

Like I said in yesterday’s prayer. We are all doing His work and it’s so important for us to understand that even when we are tired, or even when we are scared, we know we can be strong and courageous in Him."
