"I would imagine it would truly hurt the person who gave it to you. So imagine how God feels when you toss your gifts to the side. When we find now real use for them. 

God didn’t make you by mistake. He gave you everything you need to fulfill your destiny and your time here on earth. 

YOU are so unique. Embrace everything He has given you. Some of you have the gift of wisdom, others have the gift of faith, some of you have the gift of organization and administration. Some of you have the gift of decrement. 

What ever your gift is, fully embrace it. Beyond spiritual gifts, you’ve been given personality gifts. Some of you are witty, others of you are funny, some of you can draw, while others can sing. Some of you are athletic, others are tech savvy. Some of you have been given the gift of communication. 

I don’t care how old you are. I want you to grab and pen and paper or take out a note on your phone and write down all the gifts that God gave you. I want you to embrace them. When you embrace who you are, you can walk so freely with your never changing creator beside you."

"In today’s era, cancel culture has crept its way into every conversation. Celebrities are wiped off the face of the earth, CEO’s companies can crumble over night. Director’s are removed from their films. This behavior has crept its way into our very families.

One of my favorite take aways from the Bible is to forgive others, to love on other, to pray for others. Do not hold resentment.

Don’t get me wrong, Call out evil for evil, but do not forget that sin is sin, and we all fall short of perfection. 

At the end of the day, when you hold onto offense, the one getting hurt is you. We’ve said it on here before.

I pray today as you go about your day, you look at the world around you and you choose to see it through the lens of Jesus.

I pray you look at those that society prosecutes and your pray for them. You pray for the state of the world. You pray for your leaders. But on a smaller level, when your friend or family member does something that makes you feel as if you need to remove them from your life, pray for them."

"I like this little nugget of wisdom. It really brings a sense of perspective to the everyday. We know this to be true. We know when we are fighting our friends and family and our tempers get out of control, we are bound to start arguments that can leave both parties offended for some time.

 

I just wanted to remind you today that patience brings peace.

 

So have some patience with those around you. Have some patience when you are educating others. Have patience when others are educating you. Have patience when you are driving to work.

 

If you approached even situation level headed and with patience, you will find your life to be filled with joy. So much JOY.

 

That is the kind of Monday I am after, and I hope you are too."

"Imagine if our conversations all started with that verse. I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

 

Imagine if you woke up and said that prayer over those you can’t stand. Imagine if you looked at your government officials, those you voted for and those you didn’t vote for and you said I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

 

Doesn’t that make you feel closer to Jesus? Wishing no harm on anyone. Not even those who’ve hurt you. Not even those who you feel are out to get you.

 

Say this prayer to everyone your come into contact with today (in your head of course). Say it to every co-worker. Every person who cuts you off in traffic.

 

This is more for you than it is for them."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of James 1:23-24 which says "23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like."

"We all struggle with new habits. I know. I am one of you. We are all human and we have our ways. It’s impossible for me to work out every single day, it’s just not a habit of mine. So why is applying new habits so hard for us?

 

Well the answer to that is simple, habits are formed from our behaviors, and our behaviors are a result of our identity. If you don’t identify as an early bird, your body will always fight your alarm.

 

Can the same be said about applying scripture to your daily life?

 

I want to say yes. I know that when you habitually surround yourself with people who don’t act the way you want to act after reading scripture, it’s almost impossible to change.

 

It’s almost like living two lives. Which is what this verse is saying. It’s like looking in a mirror and completely forgetting what you look like."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Matthew 26:41 and Matthew 4:1-7

"“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 

"...I love this story. I love the picture this paints. I love Jesus’ clap backs. But something else really stood out to me. The enemy repeated scripture. Take notice of that, the enemy knows the word of God and he flipped the script and tempted Jesus with the very words we repeat and meditate on daily. 

 

Look out for snakes disguised as doves.

 

Jesus was hungry and he was tempted with food. And sometimes we are hungry. Hungry for a new job, more income, materialistic things and we feed on what the earth has to offer rather than on the word of God.

 

My prayer today, is that we take this life day by day. Trying to grow closer to God every single day. Trying to lean into our spirits rather than the flesh. But at the same time, I pray we have grace when the flesh is weak. Get back up, and try again. Today is a new day."

"But I am here to ask you the same question God asked me, why are you still holding onto your mistakes and sins from the past? It’s preventing you from the gift of today.

 

We are all living a special kind of lifestyle, you know the kind of lifestyle after Jesus’ heart. It’s a life where nothing can be held over your head. Nothing. Not even that cringy video of you in your college days, nothing holds the power to destroy you.

 

I am so thankful we can all come to this safe place to remember how good God is every single morning. This year has handed us all a new perspective on life. Not the same perspective, but a new one. God revealed things to me that He didn’t reveal to you and vice versa. It’s because he is the God of relationship."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Romans 8:6 which says "The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace."

" This verse is saying that when we are governed by flesh (the what we see here and now) vs. the spirit we are trapped in a cycle of death. We aren’t literally dying, but a life that can’t produce good fruit isn’t a life I want to live. So how do we fix that? We fix our minds.

 

The spirit says we are wonderfully made. The spirit says we are protected. The spirit promises to give us strength, blessing, abundance.

 

We have to start thinking that way. When we think it, we say it. When we say it, we create it. Before you know it, the lessons God was trying to teach you, will be learned much faster than when you were sitting there complaining."

"Sometimes we don’t say it enough and I hope today’s devotional encourages you to do so. Make a list of all the things you are thankful for. Maybe it’s health, maybe it’s your home, your family, a new job, or a current job. Find the people and the things you can be thankful for.

 

2020 has been a year and some of us have had just about enough of it. Between the pandemic and the conversations we’ve been having, it was hard at times to be hopeful for the outcome of this year. But even in loss we can be thankful for the peace Jesus’ presence gives us.

 

I lost my grandmother this year, but I have a sense of happiness knowing she is dancing in heaven with my other grandparents.

 

Maybe you’ve had one crazy year and your life is falling apart. I will give you one thing you can hold onto. The breath inside your lungs."
