Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we pray over our third prayer for Advent 2020! Today we are reading out of Psalm 19:1 which says "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

"This verse says the heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  It’s true. When you take a trip to the mountains, when you get out of the city and when you look up, aren’t you in awe of the stars? He created them. Placed them in their exact spots across the universe.

 

Not only is God this big God, creator of the universe, but he is small and personal. Created you with your features.

 

When we look to nature we can see His hand at work. The circle of life is what they call it, but to me it’s like a circle of love. God made it so the birds never have to worry about eating. If they don’t worry why should we?

Romans 1:20 says

 

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

 

WOW

 

That verse put’s everything in perspective. Let’s go outside today, and for five minutes, get off your phone and either walk around the block or sit on a porch and drink a hot cup of coffee if it’s too cold where you live. Look at the majesty of our creator and think to yourself. If the stars light up the darkest of nights, imagine what our love can do in the life of others."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we pray over Advent Day 2 - 2020. Today we will be reading out of 1 Peter 2:24 which says "“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed."

"We get to shout VICTORY when we look at strongholds and obstacles. We get to look at the face of whatever is holding us, hurting us, stumping our growth and we can declare that God already won the battle. All we need to do is believe.

 

In the book of John, chapter 5 verse 4 it says:

 

24 “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.

 

So yes, this month is absolutely about gifts. The gift of victory over our life. The gift of freedom. The gift of a child, who grew to become a man who would save the world from itself. Who saved you from yourself.

 

Maybe you dread this month because gift giving ranks 5 in your list of love languages and you are less than excited for the next three weeks. (If you know nothing about the love languages, you just need to know there are five kinds of languages.) But maybe it goes deeper than that. Maybe you’re just tired and you don’t think you have the strength anymore, these morning prayers serve as a reminder that you’ve got this, not by your doing but because He already took care of it."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we start ADVENT 2020. Today we are reading out of Romans 5:8 which says "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

"Just for five minutes a day let’s forget about the chaos that comes with the mall in this season, and let’s remember his never ending love.

 The Bible repeats how much he loves us, so many times. Today’s verse reminds us that while we were still sinners Christ died of us. Sinner gets such a tainted view that you read that word, and you feel distant from it. You can’t see yourself as a “sinner” because you don’t cheat or kill or steal. But your greed, selfishness, and addictions to worldly things is what makes you fall short of perfection. Christ saw that in us, and he saw that in you and he said you were worth dying for.

In 1 John 4:9 it says 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

Jesus gave us life through him. That nothing may be weighed over our heads. He took that to the grave. This is the person we celebrate this season. The man that gave us the freedom we live in today. Thank you Jesus!"

"Your volunteer work, your giving statements, the people you serve, you don’t do that for the glory of Instagram, you do that for the Glory of God. I pray we check our actions before we post and before we gloat to others. Are we after likes, or awareness for the organization?

 

The same action can be weighed differently in the eyes of God. It depends on where your heart was when you performed the action.

 

Today is historically the day when everyone gets their Christmas shopping done, all of the leftover foods get donated to homeless shelters, some people even go to work today. So I pray you have an amazing day, and an even better weekend. I just wanted to leave you all with this littler reminder as we get ready to welcome December. Always check your heart as you are about to perform a deed, or give your word. Try to seek the heart of God, don’t look for the approval of man. You’ll be much happier in the long run."

"Today is Thanksgiving here in the states and it’s a beautiful holiday where families get together to give thanks for everything. What started as a tradition to give thanks for the land, became much more than that. 

Now we give thanks for our circumstances, our lives, our families. But it comes with a lot of cooking cleaning and prepping and sometimes even a lot of tension in the house.

As you set the table and put the turkey to cook for 5 hours, things may arise. Little arguments with your family. Your casserole might burn and the turkey may come out dry ( I pray no one has dry turkey tonight) but for the sake of today, I pray that no matter what happens, we flip the switch,

 I get to make this turkey for my family to eat. Most aren’t as lucky as we are.

 I get to set the table for my mom. She has a lot to do and it is an honor to extend help where I can.

 I get to help entertain the kids table.

 I get to decorate my home.

 I get to _____- fill in the blank."

"Today’s verse. Today’s prayer, everything about today I want it to be about Jesus and his goodness. I will sing His praises, in my life and in yours.

 

I don’t know what you are walking. You could be sick, or you could be on the hippest point of a mountain top celebrating victory. You could have lost loved ones to COVID-19. Maybe you’re battling the virus now or someone extremely close to you is.

 

This year has been a wild ride for us all, between all that happened from the Australian fires, to the pandemic, to the natural disasters in the Philippines and South America, and to top it off the United States Election. Things change from minute to minute. The news changes, the weather changes, seasons come and go literally and figuratively.

 

I had a baking business at the beginning of this year, and now I produce daily podcast devotions.

 

We live in an ever changing world, but there is one constant force. One constant light. One constant King of our lives. His name is Jesus, and he has never failed us. He will never fail us. The bibelot says “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Philippians 2:13 which says "For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure."

"Well let’s start out with the fact that he does reside within us. So we know he works through us. Like he uses us to brighten others days. He uses us to build his church. He uses us to serve our community.

But this verse isn’t address the work that he does through us. It’s addressing the work that he does in us.

It says God works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

It means that everyday he’s helping mold our hearts. Everyday he is shaping us to become more like Him. How? By presenting challenges and obstacles in front of you.

If you tend to be an angry person he will continue to challenge you to let go of your anger.

If you’re a selfish person he is going to put you in situations that will make you open your eyes to those around you.

 He is constantly putting us in situations that mold us. Teach us lessons. Why?

Well I believe it’s because he wants us all to freely come to Him. He wants us to become better versions of ourselves so that when others ask how we got to where we did we can point it back to Him."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read Proverbs 16:7 which says "When a man's ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him."

"My prayer for us all, my prayer for you, is that when you walk into a room, everyone knows you carry the presence of God.

The way you carry yourself, the words you speak, your action and dreams should all align with the word of God.

Our ways should always please the Lord, but we tend to be rocky in our habits. We tend to be selfish and we don’t give back to those around us. Sometimes we are unwilling to do what he is calling us to do. Sometimes we live in the past full of regret, and other times we are just so focused on the future that we don’t see the gift of today. 

I can be guilty of that last one. 

As we start this beautiful thanksgiving week, my prayer for us all is that we are present. Let’s become mindful of our actions, of our words, of our habits. Let’s feel the presence of God as our families gather for this holiday season. Most of all I pray your families are safe this week."

"Perspective is what changes everything and this verse is one that we can hold onto at any given season.

Joyful in hope. Experience only the joy Jesus can bring. The indescribable peace that he brings.

Patient in affliction. Even in the hardest seasons we must have the patience to see Gods work at large. He is orchestrating something you cannot even fathom. 

But above all that, we must be faithful in prayer. It’s been the theme the last few weeks. The power of prayer. So I urge you to pray. In every season. For everyone around you and everything you may be going through.

Where ever you find yourself, I pray you feel the ever presence of Jesus. He’s there. Like we said yesterday, call out to Him. He’s listening.

Praying we all find time to rest this weekend."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Jeremiah 29:12 which says "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."

"We all tend to do this. We like to have control over everything, every situation, every choice, every season and we don’t. God has control and it’s up to us to just give it to Him.

 The creator of the universe, the man who has seen the start and the end, the one who knows the amount of hairs on my head. The light of the world. The prince of peace. He deserves to be the leader of your little life project. 

Our walks in our faith are all so different. But I know that we all have moments where we think we can handle whatever life throws our way. We can feel like a burden to Jesus. We don’t ask for help. This verse stands as a reminder that he is waiting on us to call on His name. Pray to him. He will listen.

It’s a promise from above. “I will listen to you” is what He says. So talk to him. Give him the permission to take over. Tell him your struggles, tell him your joys. Pray, today and every day. Start talking to Jesus as if he was you best friends. The next time something cool happens, or something painful, right before you pick up the phone to tell your mom or friends, tell your side of the story to Jesus."
