Today the Eyres give us a sneak peak at their new book The Happiness Paradox, which will be released on New Year's day. There are paths that lead to happiness in our families and the paths that lead away from it. As Richard and Linda explain on the show today, most of us pursue Control, Ownership, and Independence in the belief that the more of them we have, the happier we will be. But in fact, these are the three things that pull us away from true happiness. The first “side” of the book presents the problem, and when the book is flipped over, the alternative attitudes of Serendipity, Stewardship and Synergicity are suggested as the opposite approaches that can “turn our lives right-side up” and make us better spouses and better parents. These can also work as great goals for the New Year.
