Nine One Wine Podcast

Nine One Wine gives their listeners a holiday gift with a special bonus episode. Chris and Hillary venture to the world famous Napa Valley Wine Train, currently owned by Noble House Hotels & Resorts, Ltd., to chat with GM Nathan Davis. Listeners will be immersed in both the history of the Napa Valley Wine Train and how it helped develop Napa Valley into the place it is today. The October 2022 and October 1989 St. Helena Police Log were reviewed while the group enjoyed a collection of delicious wines that are served on the train including a Chandon sparkling wine, 2019 Raymond Reserve Chardonnay and 2019 Raymond Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Episode 33 is on location at the Migliavacca Mansion with special guests Katie Migliavacca and Vincent Traverso of Migliavacca Wine Company. The May 2022 and May 2016 police logs are analyzed while the group sipped on the 2021 Rosato, 2019 Vermentino and 2019 Sangiovese. Each with its own delicious flavor and deep roots of history. Highlights of the episode include a 600lb pig, taste off between Clemente's and Lawler's ravioli and malfatti, and the rich legacy of Migliavacca Wine Company.  Tune in for an episode full of heart warming restoration and local charm. 

Episode 31 is joined by Rutherford legend Jake Coursen. For Episode 30 the Nine One Wine crew goes on an adventure to the home of the patriotic pour, Sherwin Family Vineyards. Located in the Spring Mountain district, we are joined by father son duo, Matt and Steve Sherwin. The March 1996 and 2022 police logs were reviewed while enjoying the delicious Sherwin Family Vineyards 2017 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 2018 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Cellar Scraps #15. Highlights of the episode include rebuilding after the fire, a struggling squirrel, skunk euthanasia, and professional owl hooters. Enjoy another charming episode of animal based crime and amazing family owned wines. 

Episode 29 is a joined by special guest, third generation farmer, Kirk Venge. The group was spoiled with five different wines through the episode including a 2021 Venge Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc, 2010 Frazier Cabernet Sauvignon and a 2008 Venge Vineyards Port. Listeners can also laugh along as Hillary and Chris struggle with a blind tasting of 2015 Forman Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2015 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse De Lalande. Join in to review the February 2008 and 2022 police log while learning about the wine makers perspective of growing up in Napa Valley.  Highlights of the episode include how droughts affect wine, the controversy of frost, and unrealistic Valentines Day crime. Learn about Carltons' journey from Washington DC, to being the wine director at The Little Nell in Aspen, CO and more recently working with the Lawrence family as CEO of multiple projects including Heitz Cellar, Stony Hill and Burgess Cellars. Highlights of the episode include wandering hotel guests, a 30lb raccoon, popcorn chemical spills, and the psychology of farm animals. The episode also includes a sneak peak into the new CNN show "Nomad" which will release this May. Tune in for a great episode exploring wine, expansion, and all the comical crime. 

Episode 27 is full of laughter and fun with the the most lovable guest Russell Bevan. Enjoy learning about his passionate history of wine making and why his reputation proceeds him with his well known fifteen 100 point wines. This episode explores topics far beyond the wine and crime of Napa Valley. Highlights of the episode include lessons on Flomax, the importance of sanitation, locked cars, Napa Valley future economics and suicidal squirrels. The group savored many decadent wines including a 2020 5 Wells Vineyard Chardonnay and a 2019 The Papas Cabernet Sauvignon both from Adversity cellars. The group was also spoiled with the "buttery hips" of the Bevan Cellars 2019 Dr. Crane Cabernet Sauvignon and had the incredible treat to drink a 2019 Sine Qua Non Grenache. Episode 26 jumps into the new year with the fabulous "First Lady of Wine", Heidi Barrett. Napa Valley local and legend joined Chris & Hillary to read through the November 1991 and November 2021 police log. The group enjoyed a lovely cup of afternoon tea while discussing all of Heidi's wine making adventures including Buehler Vineyards, Dalla Valle Vineyards, Screaming Eagle, Fantesca Estate & Winery, Paradigm Winery, La Sirena Winery and so many more. Highlights of the episode include angry ducks, flying helicopters, intern pranks, and painting. Tune in for this lighthearted episode with the "Queen of Cult Cabernet".
