In Colorado there was a pro-gun bill put forward this week that allowed for public input and Matt Solomon, Owner of Alpine Arms in Eagle, Colorado brought his voice forward. He represented my company as well and gave testimony about what a Small Business Owner and FFL Holder goes thru because of this new legislation. The duplicative nature of these laws costs the Tax Payers a great deal of unnecessary burdens as well as in some cases present potential conflict & confusion with Federal Laws. The laws that where rushed thru are not solving anything, they are hardly enforceable, criminals still slide passed them hardly breaking stride, and are burdening Small Business owners like Matt Solomon and I with extra and unnecessary paperwork.

This hits particularly home for us for a number of reasons.
Least of which my main HQ & retail operations is located in Canon City. This little town doesn’t usually show up on a map. The town is mostly touristic in nature but the bread and butter of this community is not readily apparent to the visiting eye. You see, Canon City and the surrounding area are home to the world’s largest inmate population! This community has been housing the criminals since before Colorado was even a State…
Victory Defense Consulting resides a crossed the street from the State Corrections Academy – purely by accident when a realtor screwed up our first choice in location but it became a blessing.

And in full disclosure I am going to tell you my special guest is also one of our awesome staff members. Joe is a Vietnam War Vet and a Retired Warden with a long distinguished career in the corrections industry. It’s his experience that makes a huge difference to our customers and it’s greatly appreciated what he does for them and for us. The Secret Service is to our industry the pinnacle of what protection professionals are all about… however, more than any other Presidency I can remember the scandals abound. The most public – how about that couple getting into a White House diplomatic party without any credentials? How about the Presidential limo getting high centered in the UK, the Mardi Gras party some agents got caught in in South America, a Secret Service Presidential Detail member leaving a firearm in the restroom on Air Force One, and now letting a known formerly apprehended mentally unstable & violent criminal with a record and involvement in some horrendous crimes stand right next to the President and dozens of world leaders.

Is it a matter of failed leadership that is allowing these kinds of oversights to occur to the safety and security of the United State of America President? I personally think it contributes far more than we would like to admit – that leadership starts at the very top, if it lacks respect on both sides; fix it already. Standing next to or holding the umbrella of a publicly disrespectful world leader such as the head of this Administration does give you some pause – but in our line of business it’s not the individual we often are protecting… it’s the position. We want to take a second and say great job to the School Resource Officer who recently responded to the school related shooting incident in Colorado. His response was 80 seconds! That then forced the shooter to take his own life because he was a mental dirt bag coward. As always I refuse to use or utter the shooters name. We know from studies that most of these shooters very often cower and take their own lives immediately when faced with a confrontation – he was no exception. Again I give you and your children permission to fight back against these cowards like your life depends on it. No one seems to mention much about this shooters connection to politics and affiliations which in my opinion was one of a possible few red flags. Good job again to the responding officer – you saved lives.

So if anyone around you still thinks Obamacare (AHCA) is a good thing, you need to examine your relationship. Don’t abandon your family ties over it yet but if your friends support this nonsense I do recommend shopping for more valuable friends. Friends like Obamacare supporters… who needs enemies?

This one single complex and absurd law of the land essentially assumes government knows best, American consumers (adults) are not smart enough to decide which healthcare plans if any they are willing to pay for, and an egregious fact that most politicians failed to READ the law before voting on it tells us this is going to be a long bumpy ride. Aside from the fact that the roll out is an utter flop, that the leadership behind it are all career theorist and have not had any experience that matters with something of this magnitude, and thru the whole process it looks like the tax payers are being taken for a ride while the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. The other huge slap in the face to the American public (tax payers) is the fact everyone involved is still on the government payroll sucking up sweet wages, salaries, & benefits and not being held accountable for failure. Private industry has a term for that – “Your Fired”
Obamacare is the law of the land now… Fraud in the Healthcare industry is a massive drain we all pay for. The consumer foots the bill for the losses to the tune of over $80 Billion – ya that’s with a capital B – Billion! According to my special guest George Scheld from George Scheld Investigations, the private healthcare insurance industry is fighting a difficult fight against hard to prove losses due to fraud.
Obamacare, has with its shoddy half attempt at forcing Americans to a managed healthcare plan has also opened the door for even greater acts of fraud. From non vetted (no background checks) “Navigators”, to massive gaps in the digital management of personal information, to limited or non existing resources of actual monitoring or review of acts of fraud make it a ripe festering pool of waste and abuse that the insurance companies will have to pass on to the consumer in order to stay in business. The costs of fraud will most likely rapidly grow that mind numbing $80 Billion into a much larger number.
George Scheld and I are in agreement; Obamacare, as crippling as it is on the outside, has opened the welcoming doors for fraudsters and a flood of abuse is coming. If you want to be on the frontlines – there will probably be a lot of room for some skilled investigators in this niche. If you want a career change, there is very likely some opportunities in the near future for investigators who have to wade into the hordes of fraudsters that are sure to flock to the opportunities the ill fated law allows.

Next: The Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax (FAET) collections report for the 2nd Quarter of the 2013 calendar year is in – meaning April 1, through June 30, 2013. The excise tax obligations are up 40.3% over same quarter last year.
Obligations by Category
The latest Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax Collection report released by the Department of the Treasury indicates that firearm and ammunition manufacturers reported tax liabilities of $224.3 million in the 2nd calendar quarter of 2013, up 40.3 percent over the same time period reported in 2012. This 2013 2nd quarter total is the highest quarter reported since Alcohol and Tobacco, Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) took over record collection in 1991 — surpassing the previous highest quarter reported (1st quarter 2013) by 12.6 percent.
The report, shows that $64.6 million was due in taxes for Pistols and Revolvers, $82.5 million for Firearms (other)/ Long Guns and $77.2 million for Ammunition (shells and cartridges). Compared to the same time period in 2012, tax obligations were up 23.0 percent for Pistols and Revolvers, up 43.3 percent for Firearms (other)/ Long Guns and up 55.0 percent for Ammunition (shells and cartridges).
Please note: These figures reflect what excise taxes the manufacturers have filed and do NOT reflect retail mark-up and final retail sales. So extrapolate the buying power of what that means to our economy and the weight this multi Billion dollar industry has. The Anti-gun Politicians trouncing on our Constitution are not doing their math all that well when they are attempting to gut several Billion dollars from our economy and taxation for all these sweet entitlements so many now rely on. Taking our 2nd Amendment Rights litterly has a price tag.
Lastly; I continue my railing here on the individual risks associated with the Obamacare debacle:
Once again I am telling you – if you’re participating at all in this Obamacare rollout your flipping nuts. Don’t check it out, don’t go to the government site to enter your personal information, don’t call some unvetted “navigator” on the phone and spill your personal info, and don’t fill out the paperwork that someone is going to data enter into the government site. First off – The security risk is HUGE. It’s a failed roll out of epic proportions and a security risk of unfathomable measure. This Administration’s lies are unraveling and IF only you won’t participate… if you don’t participate it won’t support itself and squash itself. We the People do have the power to change this.

So Chicago Police Chief Gary McCarthy has sold his soul to the political agenda when he came out earlier this year…. Anti-Gunners have coming outs too by the way. Law Abiding citizens get to see the real colors sooner or later of their elected officials and their puppets. Anyway he is advocating that his Police Officers may shoot Concealed Carry Permit holders because they see them with a gun based on their “training”.

I guess it’s my job right here On America’s Frontlines of Crime & War to remind the good Chief or at least point him to some of the information readily available to him. The national average according to the FBI who is tracking Police Officers involved in a shooting reflects an accuracy rate that is approximately an 80% …. Wait for it. 80% miss rate. So, good Chief McCarthy, that officer who does let a bullet fly is more likely to hit an innocent by stander than the intended target. The Chief is at the top of the food chain and sets the “training” agenda, example, and morale for his Agency. I hope he grabs a clue, sets down the political agenda and rolls up his sleeves to tackle the mess his city faces daily. Having Law Abiding, permitted Concealed Carry holders on his streets will do nothing but make his job easier.
