New State Laws have just taken effect in Colorado on July 1st. The battle lines are drawn and the stakes are big for private law abiding citizens.

If you’re a proud gun owner or looking to soon be a gun owner in the State of Colorado – be careful; you are and will be behind enemy lines… with a Democrat party majority in the Senate, in the House, and the unfortunate luck of having a Democrat Governor who is against you and they all want to take your guns. The Governor rode in on a ticket that many thought to be a business friendly promise. So far the stark truth is nearly as bad as the pack of disappointments our second term President is recording (pun intended).

The firearms and accessories industry of Colorado has enjoyed anything but friendliness from this Governor. We are seeing $100s of Millions in both gross revenues and Tax revenues literally packing up and leaving the State of Colorado under his term as Governor. I believe this Governor has allowed a disgraceful Democrat Senate President, Sen. Morse (D) to manipulate traditional processes that cut out real debate, ignored evidence in the hearings, and limited access or ability for the public to have a voice. I believe Sen. Morse (D) intentionally manipulated presentations and limited input from the very Law Enforcement professionals these laws will fall upon to enforce. This Senator flat out ignored the constituents of his district and even occasionally mocked them. It looks like his constituents might get the last laugh if they can muscle the first Re-call of a senator in the State of Colorado’s history. I, for one want to witness this historical event unfold and watch the citizens of his district send him packing to the unemployment line.

Look I don’t mind giving up some conveniences for the safety of our public, our children, or our nation. Here is the rub though, I am not only a retailer with a business in firearms accessories, gun sales, and firearms related training – but I am also a fairly educated security professional who built one of the fastest growing broadest based security firms in Western Colorado in the last decade. I can tell you from a threat management position a few things that DON’T make sense about these laws and point out that the agenda here is all about CONTROL and NOT the best interests of public safety.

Department of Justice whitepapers and the most current FBI open source statistics have been flat out ignored. Telling criminals to obey laws and follow moral paths in life will not stop the fact that right now while you listen several women a crossed the nation suffer a violent sexual assault, that several children were injured in the care of and at the hands of evil adults, that some stupid idiot still walked out of a bar and got into a car and injured or killed someone driving away. Bad people have been doing bad things to good people far before firearms where invented and if we ditch firearms for laser technology I promise again bad people will be hurting good people with that technology too. Colorado – you ARE NOT any safer starting July 1st then you where June 30th.

Cross your fingers that Colorado Sheriffs (55 of the 62 elected County Sheriffs) can get some brakes on this runaway train of mass political stupidity. It might be considered a local issue but this goes beyond just local jackassery. I am painfully out of patience with stupidity. What part of Public Safety has been served here with these laws I have asked repeatedly. Not a single politician has answered this for me in the State of Colorado or beyond in our Nation’s Capital.

Starting 1 July forward and until clear legal determinations are made Victory Defense Consulting suggests:

NEVER leave your guns, magazines, or ammunition in plain view in your vehicles or home.

NEVER allow a Concealed Carry weapon to become visible in public.

NEVER openly discuss the guns you own, the magazines you own, or how much ammunition you may or may not have in public or unknown company.

NEVER answer questions about the guns you own, the magazines you own even to a Police Officer unless you have properly invoked your rights or have proper representation.

NEVER consent to a vehicle search in which you have used to store, transport, or keep firearms and magazines (even if you think they have been removed – something might have got left behind).

DO NOT support any businesses posting a policy that declares the property is a Gun FREE Zone if you can help it. Refuse to eat at chains that have that policy, refuse to be a patron to retailers posting the policy. Make sure they are held to the highest civil punitive damages IF an act of violence occurs on their property where all possible additional security measures may have been neglected for your safety. Since they are essentially disarming you they have accepted FULL responsibility for your safety, your family & friends safety as well and they have taken on the responsibility to protect you from employees – past & present and all others coming on to the property.

You MUST get involved and vote out politicians who have embarrassed the State of Colorado with these unenforceable laws, who have admittedly noted these laws do not offer any additional public safety measures, and who sold their souls to Out-of-State interests in order to get campaign assistance.

If you are in a District that a Re-Call election is going on you MUST participate and vote out those being re-called and help send a nationwide message. It is your Duty to change the tide of Colorado politics and take back our State. Return to our traditional culture and proud heritage.

So who by now thinks Edward Snowden is a hero for the NSA leaks and who wants to throttle him as a traitor to our nation?

There are several elements of fact in this evolving story worth noting and applying throughout whatever we ultimately learn. The drag net that Edward Snowden supposedly had such heartburn with is a fully authorized and legal intelligence program signed off by a Federal Court and a Federal Judge. The take a way is that it is a legal program. We can debate how over reaching, necessary, needed and so on it is but at the end of the day it’s properly above board as long as you have cleared access.

The taking of this information and releasing it via press interviews from a secreted location in a less than friendliest nation is red flag number one. Removing sensitive information from a secured location IS illegal. Sharing it with one or more foreign interrogators is not a swift move for any do gooder no matter how you slice that. There is no real evidence to me yet that American’s where harmed as a result of the drag net and electronic collection program. The government of course is claiming that 50+ plots and terroristic threats were diverted due to the program – if you trust the government to have accurate info. So that may be a draw. If you have been a mushroom and shovel feed BS while not believing your information wasn’t being used by the government to know things about you then you’re probably on Snowden’s side for sure.

However, I do believe real, true long lasting damage will be suffered by the NSA and agencies to collect on evil doers out there who intend to do Americans harm. That harm will come from altered communications plans, altered strategies by less than friendly nations who support or allow evil doers to plot against our Nation. Ripping the veil off what was being collected is one thing; if unveiling great detail about how information was being collected and if American Intelligence Operators or friendly /recruited sources are put in danger then that too is illegal, immoral, and more than espionage; its treason.

All words I see dramatically lacking in the world of politics. Right on up from local levels, thru the States, to our nation’s capital and in our Nations White House.

Trust… think we cannot trust government right now or anytime in the near and prolonged future… trust is earned by responsible example isn’t it… The IRS scandal makes us worried even greater at how we are taxed and what it goes towards, the Surveillance of MILLIONS of America’s via phone, internet, and email is more than mildly concerning – its blatant over reach of the Federal Government.

Leadership… Now no doubt there are different styles of leaders and I have a long side my fellow men and women in uniformed have joked in the past about a few of those styles. Leading from the rear with the gear doesn’t do much for creating loyal followers who believe in ones capabilities.

Integrity …. Not even a word in this current administration’s vocabulary.

…and For the good of the people…. Well the voice of the people – even at our local levels and particularly in my state (Colorado); the voices of the people are being completely ignored and trod upon in order to meet a set agenda by out of state interests and power grabs.

There are glimmers of hope…. Among the sewage of main stream America headlines there are beams of light that arise. Colorado Sheriffs among others are sueing the Law Makers of Colorado over Magazine Bans

Sheriff John Cooke of Weld County Colorado is a vocal Colorado Sheriff who is trying to tell law makers they need to pay attention and keep some sanity or plain and simple common sense in mind. Recent laws have no “public Safety” interests at heart and in fact are designed to intentionally ignore public safety. He is helping lead the way in a Federal Law Suit against Colorado Law makers… Lets hope he and the others win!

Sheriff Cooke speaks to us about recent events, recent efforts to reign in the wrong doings of state politicians who are ignoring the people, and about reasserting common sense leadership at the grassroots level. Leading the way Colorado Sheriffs have brought a Federal Law Suit Against the very Law Makers attempting to force unwanted Magazine Bans on the citizens of Colorado.

Our Colorado Sheriffs Leadership example is not only being watched a crossed the nation. The example is being followed as recent Sheriffs in the State of NY have joined in a law suit against their state’s restrictive new gun laws as well.

Nucla, Colorado (where I was asked to speak) recently passed a Town Ordinance requiring all heads of houses & law abiding towns folk within the limits to own a firearm & ammo. A large number of Americans enjoy a privilege somewhat uncommon to the rest of the world – law abiding citizens can and do enjoy the ability to own firearms. Others specifically take it one step further and choose to enjoy the ability to legally Carry Concealed although a great number of firearms owners do not. I am guessing 1/3 of our Concealed Carry students probably never complete the application but instead took the course for educational purposes and to better familiarize themselves with their defensive handgun.

It is a sad state of affairs that these privileges are being trounced upon by politicians and half witted do gooders who missed the common sense bus.

Security in this niche is a battle on multiple sides. The immediate threats of harm to staff and others are not only real but dangerous. Dealing with that is one issue, dealing with the predators perpetrating these acts from within the system becomes another battle as they hide behind advocates and the system’s antiquated policies. Another challenge is the denial of those supporting the system and the active ignorance to the real dangers. Using intelligence, Law Enforcement, Threat Assessment, CCTV, and all available resources while still supporting those in real need is a unique niche that we get to look at in this episode.

We have all been following along the past few weeks related to the Boston Bombing on Patriots Day that targeted innocent Boston Marathon spectators.

We now know that this was another attack on American soil by radical Muslim Terrorists who hate our nation for what it stands for, our way of life, and our belief systems. Furthermore, we have also learned that these attacks where perpetrated by two brothers – whose names I refuse to use or acknowledge.

A few things in my mind make this attack different and stand out as something we need to be aware of. Some striking facts should make you sit up, scratch your head and asking for answers and change. First of all our nation’s policy of being overly politically correct is getting people killed.

Second…. This is a different breed of terrorist than we have been overtly fighting in 10 plus years of war abroad. These are Chechen terrorists – Russian citizens who attacked Americans on American Soil. Radical Chechen Islamic terrorist inside our boarder is a BIG deal.

Lastly, our more than open door policies and weakness for political correctness allowed an 8 yr old boy eating ice cream to be murdered by an improvised bomb in an American street, in an American city, during a Patriotic celebration. The FBI had one of their names, had interviewed him, making this at least 5 individuals now who have went on to perpetrate terror attacks on Americans after being red flagged. Why?

When you call the police they are reacting to your need or reported concern. Rarely can they, will they, do they, go out of their way to make sure you’re tucked in and safe for the night. “When seconds count… the cops are but minutes away”. We know this also from Sheriff David Clarke’s Public Safety Announcement in Milwaukee County telling the citizens of his jurisdiction that calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. It’s for these times that training offered by Victory Defense Consulting will prove most valuable.

Think about that. If your being assaulted, raped, burglarized, beat or threatened it’s an active situation in the present time of NOW. Getting a police officer there will take time and you – you alone and what you do in the next couple of seconds MIGHT be the difference between life and death.

You – you alone are responsible for your safety as the first line of defense. If you’re the nob who stuck your head in the sand and live a lifestyle of “It won’t happen to me” and you have no plan for if it does happen to you; you’re putting your life in fate’s hands. I would suggest the strongest tool you have is between your shoulders and a specific and determined will to live & survive.

You can’t hardly find ammunition ANYWHERE. I hear of people lining up every morning at sporting goods stores to see if they stocked any new product overnight and to be the first inside to grab it. They are religiously doing this to get any kind of ammo at all. I have personally seen the shelves of several huge national chains that are bare boned of any common caliber of ammo. We are hard pressed to know when the next pallet of product will arrive at our store with ammunition for our customers. We are left rationing ammo to clients who buy guns and we are scrambling for clients to find anything we can for them to help them out. I am cashing in as many favors as I can to help customers & clients. You’re going to hear it’s an issue of components and parts for the ammunition makers.
