Rev. Williams sits down with Dr. Botner to preview our upcoming course, Women and Power in the Church. She shares her journey to pastor ministry, and they discuss many of the major interpretive and practical questions swirling around the topic of women in ministry.
Come grow in your understanding or Scripture's beautiful and expansive vision for women in ministry. Not only will we explore a robust biblical case for women in pastoral ministry, but we will also unpack recent data (from Rev. Williams's D.Min. dissertation) about how Evangelical congregations are currently responding to the calling of women as lead pastors. In bringing together theory and praxis, exegesis and experience, we hope to provide resources that will help to edify the whole body of Christ.

Dr. David Moffitt joins Dr. Botner to discuss his new book, Rethinking the Atonement: New Perspectives on Jesus's Death, Resurrection, and Ascension (Baker Academic, 2023). Moffitt's work on atonement (starting with the Epistle to the Hebrews) has fundamentally changed the way that many biblical scholars and theologians are thinking about atonement in the New Testament. If you think atonement is all about the death of Jesus, think again!
==============================
Dr Moffitt is Reader in New Testament at the University of St. Andrews. His work is especially focused on the Epistle to the Hebrews and the strategies the text employs to interpret early Christian claims about Jesusโs person, death, resurrection, and ascension in high-priestly and sacrificial terms. His book on Hebrews (Atonement and the Logic of Resurrection in the Epistle to the Hebrews) attempts to show that the Christology and Soteriology developed by the author rests upon his correlation of the basic narrative of early Christian proclamation (i.e., Jesusโ life, death, resurrection, and ascension) with the ritual process of the Yom Kippur sacrifices, the end goal of which was the restoration and maintenance of fellowship between God and creation (i.e., atonement). His book Atonement and the Logic of Resurrection in the Epistle to the Hebrews was a recipient of a Manfred Lautenschlรคger Award for Theological Promise (2013).
