For this week’s hometown haunt, Marie and Nicolina invite their good friend – comedian, writer, producer and actor – Mike Mitchell to the show. They chat about his upcoming television series This Is The Thing (TITT), and about some of the creepy occurrences he and his staff experienced while filming at The Cotton Factory – an old cotton mill – located in Hamilton, Ontario. Marie then shares the history of mill and how it’s now home to artists, filmmakers, and a few resident ghosts.

What happens when you get a homewrecker, a narcissistic alcoholic, and a bunch of dead inmates together? You get a lot of unrest in the paranormal world. In this episode of Para(normal), Nicolina shares the hauntings of The Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC designed by renowned architect, Francis Rattenbury, who met his demise at the hands of his wife’s lover. Meanwhile, Marie tells us about the HI Hostel in Ottawa, Ontario; a former jail that hosted numerous criminals who lived and died behind its walls, and who still creep around the cells turned suites, to this day.

Famous TikToker, Evan Kail aka Pawn Man, joins Marie and Nicolina on this week’s Hometown Haunts episode for the scariest guest haunting yet. Evan shares wildly frightening experiences from his childhood home in Edina, Minnesota that tormented his family for decades. His stories include sounds and sightings of what his father called “the shadow people,” and a possible demon entity that he accidentally welcomed into his home by playing with a ouija board at age 12. You’ll even hear an EVP recording collected by the ghost hunters who studied his home, which left us (mostly Marie) shocked and terrified.

In this episode of Para(normal) we cover the theme of “ghost lovers” or the “deadly beloved” where both girls share stories about romantic experiences between women and the spirits who captured their hearts. Marie explains how Amanda Large Teague fell in love with and married a Haitian pirate, who inspired the character, Jack Sparrow, in Pirates of the Caribbean. Nicolina then tells the experiences of Amethyst Realm, who claims to have bed over 20 ghosts, was engaged to a ghost named Ray, but left him over his “partying and drug abuse”.

No, these stories are not about why your father left you as a child. As much as we’d like to cover that, the girls look at some curious disappearances that have serious paranormal undertones. Nicolina uncovers the mysteries of the Bennington Triangle where 5 people vanished in Glastenbury Mountain, Vermont during 1945 – 1950. Marie then tells us the story of Travis Walton, a world-famous 1975 alien abduction that was witnessed by numerous crew members, who left Walton for dead; Walton returned days later to share his experiences in vivid detail.

It’s been an interesting 2020 to say the least, and although it’s one of those years we’d probably all like to forget, the girls braced themselves for a look back at the ghosts of episodes past. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Some of them will haunt us forevermore, but when all is said and done, this year was our best year yet. We joined Never Sleeps Network, we learned a lot, we laughed a lot, and we gained some pretty amazing new listeners along the way. Thanks to all of you for sticking it out. We know it’s been a bumpy ride, but we’ve come a long way, and we hope that with the lessons we’ve learned this year, 2021 will be nothing short of amazing.
