Party Favorz — Dance Music Podcast

This is a 00s dance-music throwback: Back Spin Volume 1 (2013) is an electro/EDM megamix built from older System Edition sets as a focused look at past hits and underground gems. Party Favorz stitches house, progressive, tech, and trance into a continuous 1:38:38 set that balances familiar club anthems with deeper, lesser-known cuts.

Highlights include Harry "Choo Choo" Romero’s Bambossa take on Hardrive’s “Deep Inside,” the Angello/Axwell/Ingrosso & Laidback Luke cut with Deborah Cox, Nadia Ali’s “Love Story” (Andy Moor vocal), The Ian Carey Project’s “Get Shaky” (Vandalism mix), Niels Van Gogh’s Pulverturm 3.0 update, and Meck’s “Windmills.” The host dug through six System Edition mixes from 2007–2009, pulled roughly 25 candidates and trimmed to 19 tracks, a tedious but rewarding process that might seed a recurring Back Spin series focused on EDM hits and misses.

EDM Club Fusion — Top Dance Songs of 2012 Volume 3 rounds out a year-end snapshot of how pop and electronic production collided on dancefloors. This installment gathers the remixes, extended intros, and club edits that turned radio hits into peak-hour tools, highlighting the series’ look back at 2012 and its shifts in DJ culture.

Expect familiar anthems reframed for mixing: Swedish House Mafia’s Don’t You Worry Child and Avicii’s Levels [Good Feeling] sit alongside Calvin Harris’s extended Feel So Close and Liam Keegan’s intense rework of Rihanna’s Diamonds. The mix also calls out pop-to-club transformations from Carly Rae Jepson (Almighty Club Mix) and early-career producers like Cosmic Dawn, illustrating how bedroom DJs and remixers pushed mainstream songs into club territory.

There’s a through-line here about platforms and opportunity — Beatport’s role as an alternative hub and the touring economy that buoyed names like Tiesto and Deadmau5 are part of the backdrop. Overall this volume favors DJ-ready edits and mashups that reflect both festival peaks and underground Beatport influence from 2012.
