Josie Katz opens with emotive drama, Princess X gets a Ralphi Rosario extended treatment, and Wayne G & LFB turn Nelly Furtado’s “Parking Lot” into playful floor fodder. This is a Chill Out mixtape from the Chill Edition series, rebuilt for 2012 from the second half of the 2011 set. It leans into downtempo, lounge, and minimal textures while using political news snippets and sound effects as connective tissue—a deliberate benchmark for the forthcoming third Chill Edition. The mix runs about 1:43 and was assembled as a creative reference point for later volumes.

Expect warm, reflective passages alongside a few club-leaning moments. Highlights include Gramatik’s Party Favorz World View remix, Bonobo’s take on Alice Russell, Nightmares On Wax’s signature mood, Groove Armada with Will Young, Oceanlab featuring Justine Suissa, and a passage from Pretty Lights. Interstitial “preludes” and spoken-word segues push the sequence into a narrative space that’s sometimes pointed and sometimes melancholic, so the set works both as background chill listening and a subtly political time capsule.

This episode also previews upcoming Fall and Halloween plans and signals how the compiler intended to steer future Chill Editions; play it when you want thoughtful, carefully arranged downtempo vibes.

This 2012 Chill Out mixtape is part of the downtempo Mixtape Sessions and was assembled as a slow, reflective counterpoint to the year’s noise. The World We Live In blends chill, minimal, house and lounge over a 94‑minute sequence, using sound‑effect transitions and spoken‑word preludes to stitch the set into a single late‑night listen. The mix was created as a cathartic project between seasonal editions and leans toward atmosphere over peaks.

Highlights include modern chill and downtempo names such as Nightmares On Wax, Maya Jane Coles, Washed Out, Gramatik and Thievery Corporation, plus a King Kooba downtempo remix of Soulstice that helps steer the flow between mellow grooves and deeper instrumental moments. Interstitial preludes—bits of current‑events audio and personal asides—give the mix a slightly documentary feel. Press play when you want to unwind: this edition rewards patient listening, warm basslines and textured samples rather than quick skims.
