  • 2 Fresno Unified Nurses Accused of 'Incompetence'

California nursing regulators concluded that two Fresno Unified nurses failed in their professional duties surrounding the 2022 death of an 11-year-old student who suffered a severe asthma attack at school. Investigators allege one nurse failed to call an ambulance despite obvious signs of distress, while her supervisor failed to properly investigate the incident. Both now face possible loss of their nursing licenses.

Sacramento lobbyist and Democratic operative Alexis Podesta reportedly worked as an FBI cooperator and wore a wire during a corruption probe that led to former Newsom chief of staff Dana Williamson's guilty plea. The revelation explains why numerous California political insiders later learned their conversations had been recorded as part of the federal investigation.

  • Fourth of July, Fights, Fireworks & Fire Crews

Rondy Packard Sr., 70, was reported missing after he failed to return from a fishing trip on the morning of June 28. A resident reported seeing him that afternoon driving his Nissan pickup truck eastbound on Trimmer Springs Road near Pine Flat Lake.

A Fresno man's dog likely saved his life by waking him when a fire broke out behind his home on the Fourth of July. The blaze, which damaged the house, vehicles, and a nearby vacant home, is believed to have been caused by fireworks and was one of at least 14 residential fires Fresno firefighters responded to in a two-hour span that night.

What started as a holiday celebration in Newport Beach turned into a major public-safety incident, resulting in 402 arrests, a massive police response, multiple fires, injuries, and property damage.

Fresno firefighters faced one of their busiest nights of the year on the Fourth of July, responding to 203 fire-related incidents and multiple house fires linked to illegal fireworks. At least three homes were damaged, and emergency resources became so stretched that crews briefly suspended medical-aid responses while fighting fires across the city.

  • AM Radio in New Cars and Procter & Gamble Scripted Dramas

It’s called the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, and it’s part of a larger bill by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce called the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act of 2026. There are talks of it being absorbed by yet another proposal—the Build America 250 Act—which includes plenty of other transportation tidbits, from highway safety programs to bridge rehabilitation.

Procter & Gamble (P&G) is returning to its entertainment roots by partnering with Albertsons Media Collective to create a short-form scripted drama called "Rico's Tacos," turning grocery stores into a new platform for branded entertainment.

  • Mamdani Roasted After Telling New Yorkers To Set AC’s To 78 Degrees

The Fox News story centers on the political and social-media firestorm that erupted after Mayor Zohran Mamdani encouraged New Yorkers to set their air conditioners to 78°F during an intense heat wave. Supporters viewed it as a voluntary conservation measure to protect the power grid, while critics portrayed it as an example of excessive government involvement in everyday life.

  • Next Steps for Granite Park with Fresno City Manager Georgeanne White

Philip Teresi sits down with Fresno City Manager Georgeanne White. The City of Fresno has officially regained control of Granite Park Sports Complex after evicting the nonprofit Central Valley Community Sports Foundation (CVCSF), which had operated the facility for about a decade. On June 30, city officials and locksmiths changed the locks at the city-owned complex on Cedar Avenue and took possession of the property. For questions or concerns regarding Granite Park, call: 559-621-5366

After winning the legal battle to regain control of Granite Park, Fresno became responsible for managing reservations, field rentals, and facility operations. City officials said a formal fee schedule was required in order to legally collect fees from sports leagues and event organizers using the complex. City Manager Georgeanne White said the city intends to operate Granite Park similarly to the Regional Sports Complex in southwest Fresno and honor existing reservations to avoid disruptions for users.

  • Fourth of July Costs Surge, Trump Wants Lower Gasoline Prices & Central Valley Honor Flight Donations

Fourth of July celebrations in the Central Valley are becoming more expensive due to higher costs for groceries, fireworks, and fuel. While gas prices have recently declined, a new gas-tax increase and heavy holiday travel may offset some of those savings. Meanwhile, families can expect to pay more for traditional barbecue foods and fireworks compared with last year.

Trump argued that falling oil prices should translate into much cheaper gasoline and warned retailers against what he described as price gouging. He called for prices near $2.50 per gallon, threatened unspecified “big problems” for retailers that do not lower prices, and said the Justice Department is already examining whether consumers are being overcharged.

Central Valley Honor Flight continues to provide memorable Washington, D.C., trips for local veterans, but organizers say future flights depend on community support. While August and September flights are secure, the October trip faces a $150,000 funding shortfall and could be canceled unless additional donations are received.
