A couple wearing black climbed to the top of the Empire State Building's transmitter, and by the time they climbed back down, they were engaged, and then arrested. Angela Nikolau, 33, and Ivan Kuznetsov, 32, were hit with numerous charges following their stunt, including burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, violation of local laws, possession of burglar's tools, criminal tampering, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. 

Reza Baluchi tried to "run" across the Atlantic Ocean inside a giant floating hamster wheel bound for London. The Coast Guard deemed the voyage dangerously unsafe, intervened during a days-long standoff, and eventually removed him from the vessel. The incident resulted in federal charges and became one of the more unusual Coast Guard rescues in recent memory.

A legal dispute between Reedley farmer Cesar Mora and Giumarra Brothers Fruit Company has left Mora unable to sell a large crop of white nectarines. A JetBlue Airbus A321 arriving from Las Vegas reported a possible collision with a drone while on final approach to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on June 29, 2026. The pilot told air traffic control that the object struck the aircraft "right above the cockpit" at about 3,000 feet altitude, approximately 10–12 miles from the airport.
