  • Walmart Digital Strategies & Judge Dismisses Musk’s Advertisers Lawsuit

Newly purchased Vizio smart TVs now require a Walmart account to access streaming apps and other smart features, following Walmart’s 2024 acquisition of the TV maker.  Now, Walmart plans to roll out digital price tags to every U.S. store by the end of 2026, replacing traditional paper labels with electronic shelf displays that can be updated instantly.

A U.S. judge has dismissed X Corp.’s antitrust lawsuit accusing major advertisers of illegally boycotting Elon Musk’s social media platform, formerly known as Twitter. U.S. District Judge Jane Boyle ruled that X failed to show it suffered harm under federal antitrust law and said the alleged coordination among advertisers did not amount to an illegal conspiracy, dismissing the case with prejudice.

  • Kings Co. Terminates Avenal Fire & Activists Charged For Taking Goats Dairy

Hidden beneath the streets of Fresno, the Forestiere Underground Gardens are one of California’s most unusual attractions — an underground orchard and living space hand‑carved over 40 years by Sicilian immigrant Baldassare Forestiere.

Kings County has terminated its fire protection contract with the city of Avenal after city officials moved forward with a community boxing event inside a still‑under‑construction community center, despite warnings from the county fire chief that the building was unsafe.

Members of an animal rights activist group are facing up to six and a half years in prison for “rescuing” two baby goats from a Kings County dairy. The activists, who are part of Direct Action Everywhere, say they were rescuing a pair of baby goats that they allege were in immediate need of medical attention. Law enforcement and the Kings County District Attorney’s Office see the four activists’ actions as criminal.

  • Farewell to the Liberal Patriot

The online home for sane liberals closes up shop. It always sad to see a publication close its doors. In this Wall Street Journal opinion piece from Matthew Hennessey, Philip takes a look at this farewell letter to publication.

  • White House OnlyFarms Website & The IRS Wants Smarter Audits

The White House has launched a new agriculture-focused website called OnlyFarms.gov, meant to highlight the Trump administration’s farming policies and financial assistance for farmers. The name — a clear riff on the adult platform OnlyFans — quickly sparked online ridicule, with many social media users asking who approved the branding.

The IRS is turning to Palantir, a data‑analytics company known for working with law enforcement and intelligence agencies, to help modernize how tax audits are selected. The agency paid Palantir $1.8 million to enhance a custom tool designed to identify the “highest‑value” audit, collection, and criminal investigation cases, replacing a fragmented system built from decades of legacy software.

  • American Troops In The Mideast & TSA Employees Pay Day

The U.S. is deploying thousands of Marines to the Middle East as the war with Iran enters a more dangerous phase, signaling preparations for possible ground operations beyond airstrikes. The Marines, traveling aboard amphibious warships, are positioned to protect U.S. bases, secure key shipping lanes like the Strait of Hormuz, evacuate Americans if needed, and respond quickly if the conflict further escalates.

TSA employees began receiving paychecks Monday after President Donald Trump ordered the Department of Homeland Security to release emergency funds, even as the partial government shutdown continues. The move provides retroactive pay for weeks worked without wages, easing some pressure on airport security staffing that had led to long lines and delays.

  • The Sign that Stood Out At No Kings & Newsom’s Prediction Markets Ban

Event organizers for Saturday's protests estimate more than 8 million people attended to protest policies imposed by US President Donald Trump, and things like the Iran war, immigration enforcement and the rising cost of living. Locally, protestor gathered near Fresno Riverpark where one sign stood out, uniting everyone from all sides.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order banning state officials and appointees from using insider information to bet on prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi. The order, which takes effect immediately, expands existing ethics rules to block officials from profiting, or helping family members profit, from nonpublic government information.

  • Perfect March Madness Bracket, Disco On Repeat, C-3PO’s Head, Five Guys BOGO Redo

14-year-old Otto Schellhammer from Pittsburgh, who says it “was all luck,” has managed to pick all of the correct winners so far in the women’s NCAA tournament.

As other TikTok users shared similar stories—sudden infusions of cash, new job openings—“Ring My Bell” has surged. Last December, it was earning a little more than 200,000 streams a week on average in the U.S. That number was up 10-fold in the first half of March, according to the data company Luminate.

A rare, original C‑3PO head from Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back sold for $1.058 million at Propstore’s entertainment memorabilia auction—making it the top sale of the event so far. Believed to be the only head from the film available on the collector’s market—and featuring working light‑up eyes—the piece far exceeded its estimated $350K–$700K range.

Five Guys CEO Jerry Murrell distributed $1.5 million in bonuses to employees after a buy-one-get-one (BOGO) promotion celebrating the chain’s 40th anniversary overwhelmed stores.  The unexpected rush crashed systems and depleted food supplies, leading Murrell to compensate the "hardworking crews" with $1,000 per location for their efforts.

  • Capitol Annex Project Leaders Break Promise To Be More Transparent

Leaders of California’s Capitol Annex Project have backed away from promises of transparency, refusing to release updated cost estimates or key financial records for the billion‑dollar taxpayer‑funded building. Lawmakers Blanca Pacheco and John Laird say withholding the documents serves the public interest, drawing criticism over continued secrecy and accountability gaps surrounding the long‑delayed project.

  • Merced School District Spends $900,000 On DEI Programs

The Merced City School District has spent more than $900,000 on diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, including racial affinity groups and rap‑based education initiatives, drawing criticism over spending priorities. The funding includes contracts for programs like an African American student affinity group and a summer “Rap Camp,” even as district data show low student proficiency in math and reading.

  • The Former Fresno Department Store Some Are Calling A Historic Site

A long‑vacant department store building on the east side of Fashion Fair Mall once home to Weinstock’s, Gottschalk’s, and most recently Forever 21 is now headed for demolition. Though its late‑modernist, almost brutalist design carries decades of Fresno retail nostalgia, the 50‑plus‑year‑old structure is not considered historically significant, clearing the way for its removal.
