The Philadelphia Phillies used a 6-run first inning, two homers from Trea Turner and 6 innings of one-run baseball from Cristopher Sanchez to get by the Blue Jays, 8-3.  

 

In the first, Bryson Stott worked a four-pitch walk, then Trea Turner and Bryce Harper followed with back-to-back homers and just like that the Phillies were off and running with a 3-0 lead.  

 

When the dust settled on Toronto starter Bowden Francis, the Phillies took him for seven runs on seven hits over just 1.2 innings of work.  

 

Bryce Harper went 1-for-4 with a two walks and his homer in his first game back after being hit by a pitch last Tuesday by the Braves’ Spencer Strider. Harper’s first inning homer traveled 394ft.  

 

Turner hit his second homer of the night in the 8th inning, turning on a 3-2 splitter on the hands. He sent it 373 feet over the left field.  

 

Christopher Sanchez picks up the win to improve to 5-1 on the season. He allowed one run coming on a solo homer by Davis Schneider in the 5th.  

 

Phillies send Mick Abel to the mound Wednesday night for game two of this three game set against the Jay’s Jose Berrios.
