The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals 11-6 thanks to Jesus Luzardo’s solid Phils’ debut and Homers from Stott, Schwarber and Marsh!

 

Luzardo struck out 11 Nationals over his 5 innings, joining Hall of Famer Jim Bunning with the second most strike outs in a Phillies debut. Bunning struck out 11 Mets over 9 innings in 1964.  

 

The Phillies line-up was sure not to waste Luzardo’s efforts. Bryson Stott, Kyle Schwarber all homered. Stott tied the game at 2 in the 3rd inning with a 2-run shot that just made it over the wall in right field. Schwarber smacked a 3-run shot to left/center field in that helped a 5-run 6th inning. And Marsh hit his first homer of the season in the 7th that gave the Phillies a 10-3 lead.
