Rafael Marchan leads the Philadelphia Phillies past the Atlanta Braves with 5-4 win!  

 

The Phillies back-up catcher has struggled this season, since taking over the role from Garrett Stubbs after spring training. Entering the game, Marchan had amassed just 3 hits on the season and not one of them was a home run. In this win, the 26-year-old out of Venezuela went 1-for-2 with a walk, hit by pitch and three RBI’s. Within that line was his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the 3rd inning. He also threw out two base-runners trying to take second base on him, including Ozzie Albies, who walked on four pitches to leadoff the 9th.  

 

After Matt Strahm surrendered two runs in the top of the 8th inning, Marchan helped the Phillies grab the lead back. Braves’ reliever Daysbel Hernandez pitched the borrow of the 8th and loaded the bases. He then hit Marchan in the foot to force home what would be the game winning run.  

 

The Phillies are now just one win away from sweeping the Braves! Zack Wheeler takes on Chris Sale in the night cap of this twin bill.
