Aaron Nola got ROCKED as the Phillies were EMBARRASSED in a 14-7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals

Nola was set up for success in the game with J.T. Realmuto catching him and the Phillies bats spotting him a 5-1 lead after the first inning. But even all that wasn’t enough!  

Nola threw 3.2 innings allowing nine runs on 12 hits and one walk while also surrendering three home runs. Despite Nola showing no signs of having anything close to his good stuff, his skipper, Rob Thomson let him go back out for the 4th inning. Then after he allowed his third homer on the night, Thomson STILL left him in the game. It wasn’t until Nola went on to load the bases, that “Topper” finally went to the bullpen. Tanner Banks came in with the bases loaded and two outs, gave up a two-run single with a put-out at third to end the inning.  

The Phillies were tied with the Cardinals 6-6 going into the top of the 4th, and trailing 9-6 after.  

Alec Bohm went on to draw the Phillies a run closer with a solo homer in the bottom of the 4th to make it a 9-7 game, but it was all Cardinals after that as they went on to score eight more unanswered runs.
