The Philadelphia Phillies DOMINATED the Giants 13-0 to avoid getting swept out of San Francisco.

This season, there has been the elite version of Jesus Luzardo and the awful version of Jesus Luzardo. Today, he was ELITE! Seven scoreless innings of three-hit baseball, striking out seven and walking only one. He improves to 8-5 on the year.  

As the score would indicate, the floodgates opened for the Phillies’ offense. First it was, an RBI single by JT Realmuto in the 2nd inning, Then in the 4th, Bryce Harper added a solo homer, his first since June 3rd and his first in his last nine games. Nick Castellanos recorded an RBI single in the 6th, followed by a Max Kepler sac fly RBI.  

Going into the 8th inning, the Phillies enjoyed a 4-0 lead. Then the Phillies EXPLODED for a SEVEN run 8th inning. Kyle Schwarber came up with the big hit, a three-run homer, his 29th of the season.  

For Harper who came into today batting, .167 since making his return, a 4-for-6 day with a homer and three doubles was a much needed statline. It also marked, the first time Harper recorded four extra-base hits in a single game.
