The Philadelphia Phillies fell to the Atlanta Braves, 4-1 in a game that featured a 2:45 rain delay as well as 11 innings of baseball.

 

Jesus Luzardo Received little run support over his sixth innings of one run baseball. Kyle Schwarber was the only Phillie to provide offense, hitting his sixth home run of the season in the 3rd inning to tie the score at one.

 

After the 6th inning, the sky opened up over Truist Park and put the game on hold for the lengthy rain delay. When play resumed a little after 11:30 p.m. ET, both offenses continued to struggle.  

 

The Phillies bullpen of Carlos Hernandez, Jordan Romano and Matt Strahm all kept the Braves off the board while surrendering just one hit and one walk over three innings.  

 

Then in after Tanner Banks was able to get out of a jam with a runner on third with one out in the bottom of the 10th, the Phillies mustered a run on a base loaded walk by Johan Rojas in the top of the 11th. Kyle Schwarber ended the inning on a ball that JUST missed being a 2-out Grand Slam when the ball died on the warning track.  

 

But in the bottom half of the 11th, the Braves made quick work of Phillies’ reliever,  Joe Ross. Austin Riley tied the game on an RBI double, then Marcel Ozuna jumped on a hanging slider for the walk-off  two-run homer.  

 

Phillies drop their first series of the season.
