The Philadelphia Phillies failed to get the big hit as they returned home from their 5-1 road trip and took a 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.  

Cristopher Sanchez tossed six innings of two-run baseball, but needed 98 pitches to get through his outing and did not receive much run support on the night.  

The Phils’ only offense came on a pair of RBI ground outs. One was in the 4th that tied the game at one thanks to a sharply hit ground ball off the bat of Edmundo Sosa that Nolen Arenado bobbled. And the other came on a ground out by JT Realmuto in the 6th.  

The 6th inning was the turning point of the game for the Phillies. The had a situation with runners at the corners with no outs and only squeaked out the one run.

Matt Strahm took over for Sanchez in the 7th and promptly gave up the go-ahead homer to Masyn Winn.
