Taijuan Walker tossed 6-scoreless, while Kyle Schwarber blasted a 444ft home run as the Philadelphia Phillies completed the Sweep of the Colorado Rockies with a 3-1 win.  

 

Walker at the very least bought himself a reprieve from Phillies fans that wanted him caught at the end of last year or even during spring training. The 32 year-old righty allow just three hits, issued one walk and hit one batter but kept the Rockies from crossing home plate. The win for Walker marked his first start in his last 34 where he was able to throw 6 innings, without allowing a run. A stretch that dates back to June 6th 2023, when he held the Tigers scoreless for 7 innings.  

 

Walkers’ effort was backed by an RBI double from Bryce Harper in the 5th as well as a 444 foot solo home run from Kyle Schwarber in the 7th. JT Realmuto added another run by scoring on a wild pitch in the eighth. Realmuto went 3-for-3 on the day with a walk.  

 

Jose Alvarado came in for the save in the 9th inning and labored through his one inning of work but did get the job done despite allowing three hits one run and a walk in the ninth. Alvarado recorded his and the Phillies first save of the season using 35 pitches to eventually strike out the side.
