Zack Wheeler and Kyle Schwarber lead the way as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cleveland Guardians, 3-0 to win their 5th straight series!

 

Wheeler was masterful tossing seven scoreless innings allowing just 3 hits and w walks while striking out eight. He picks up the win to improve to 4-1 on the season.  

 

When Wheeler’s night was done, he gave the ball over to Jose Alvarado and then Jordan Romano. Both relieves threw a perfect inning each to close out the win.  

 

On a night when your pitching is flat-out dominant, you don’t need much offense. Tonight, Kyle Schwarber was all the offense the Phillies needed. The “Schwarbarian”  smacked two home runs in the game his 13th and 14th on the season pulling him in a two-way tie with the Yankees’ Aaron Judge for most in the MLB. His first came in the 2nd inning on a change up that he blasted to right field. His second came in the 8th, a two-run homer to right-center that gave the Phillies a 3-0 lead.  

 

Phillies wrap up their six-game road trip with a 5-1 record. They now return to south Philly for a six-game homestand beginning Monday night when they host the Cardinals.
