Jesus Luzardo tossed 7-scoreless, while J.T. Realmuto’s defense clinched the game as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2.  

 

Luzardo improved to 2-0 on the young season after allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks over his outing. He also sat down 8 Dodgers. He needed only 72 pitches to get through his first 6 innings and finished with 95 total on the night.  

 

Trea Turner he's on the board in the first inning when he hit a one out double then later came around to score on a failed pickup attempt by Dodgers starter, Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The righty tried to get Turner stealing 3rd base, but instead threw the ball past the 3rd base bag and into foul territory, allowing Turner to score.

 

The Phillies wouldn't get on the board again until the 7th inning when Bryson Stott came up with an RBI single to give the Phillies a 2-0 advantage then Brandon marsh grounded out to 2nd with one out bringing home Nick Castellanos from third.  

 

That offense would be just enough to out due the Dodgers, as Tommy Edman smashed a 2-run homer of Jordan Romano. Then Romano helped close the door after that, with two strike outs, but it was J.T. Realmuto who stole the show.  

 

After Will Smith drew a one-out walk in the one-run game, the Dodgers had Chris Taylor pinch run for the catcher and Max Muncy pinch hit for Kike Hernandez. Muncy went down swinging at a high fast-ball, while Taylor took off from 1st to try and steal 2nd. Realmuto popped and fired to 2nd, but Taylor was called safe by 2nd base umpire Hunter Wendlestedt. Rob Thomson challenged the call and IT WAS OVERTURNED giving the Phillies the win, and the Dodgers their first loss of the season.
