Podcast: The Ride

McMonth is coming to a close (in front of the paywall), but we can't fully digest until Mike Mitchell (Doughboys) returns to PTR to talk slides, ball pits, and extremely warm, humid tubes. Take your shoes off before listening!

Delicious food. Beautiful architecture. That would be enough—but no. McDonald's upped the ante even more by putting toys in its kids' meals. TaleSpin, Batman Returns, Star Trek: The Motion Picture! All the kids' favorites!

Justin Michael (Among Us) returns to sort through decades of amazing Happy Meal toys.

For a brief period in the 1980s, McDonald's used a jazz singer with a talking moon for a head to promote the idea of eating hamburgers at night. It worked!

Despite only appearing for a short time, this suave moon man still lives in the hearts of many adult podcasters. Mike Scollins (Late Night with Seth Meyers) returns to PTR to share in the general fondness for our good pal Mac.

There was a Mister Rogers ride at Pittsburgh's Idlewild Park for over two decades! Whoa!

Clunky, click-clacking robots! A human guide that performs live, stilted dialogue! It all takes place in a weird forest!

Bluey makes her Disneyland debut! And it's on the very stage that once hosted Videopolis. It's nice to see it's still a place for dancing, even if the average age has gone from 22 to 2.

Ryan Bergara and Byron Marin (For Your Amusement) join the fellas to chat about the masterpiece that is Tokyo Disneyland’s Pooh’s Hunny Hunt.

And that’s it—that’s all they discuss. Nothing else. Nothing weird. Just the ride. NOTHING WEIRD.

At Disney's Hollywood Studios, the stars of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster have been replaced. Aerosmith is out. The Muppets are in. To one of our hosts, this was a catastrophic mistake. To the other hosts—and maybe the public at large—it was mostly a good idea.

Who's right? We'll definitively answer that question by the end of this podcast!

*We have not actually ridden the ride. However, thanks to our finely tuned theme park assessment skills, we're confident we can determine its quality from a copious amount of opening-day footage.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is going through some, uh, changes. It’s not aging—it’s de-aging. Part of the land is going back in time, while part of the land is staying the same. This is normal stuff for a massive, multi-million-dollar IP-based theme park land entering its seventh year on planet Earth. It’s nothing to worry about.

Todd Martens (LA Times) is here to answer any of the tough questions we have about the process!

Scott just turned 40 years old. What says 40 more than a quiet, attraction-free path that connects two outstandingly dated Disney World hotels?

Is it too late to ask for separate Swan-and-Dolphin-shaped cakes, connected by a marzipan causeway?
