In this episode we talked to Dr Sharon Rees who is an Associate Professor in Therapeutics & Prescribing at London South Bank University, and began her career as a Podiatrist. She clarifies the difference between administering, supplying and prescribing drugs, talks through the list of drugs accessible via the POM certificate most graduate Podiatrists hold and what a commitment but worthwhile consideration doing an independent prescribing course would be. She also explained why certain drugs must be taken before or with food, busted the myth about drinking alcohol and taking antibiotics and reminded us of some of the common (arthralgia, myalgia) and less common (tendon pathology) side effects of certain drug groups.
