The Philadelphia Phillies are now ONE LOSS AWAY from elimination after falling to the New York Mets, 7-2 in Game 3 of their NLDS.  

Aaron Nola allowed solo homers to Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker over his first five innings of work, but really struggled in the sixth. Nola surrendered a leadoff single to Mark Vientos, then issued back-to-back walks to load the bases with no outs. Phillies’ skipper Rob Thomson then went to the bullpen and handed the ball to Orion Kerkering. The righty induced what should have been a double play ball, but it was booted by Edmundo Sosa and he was only able to record one out on a force at home. Then after Winker flied out to left, Starling Marte drove in two runs with a single to center.  

The Mets tacked on two more in the bottom of the 7th on a bases-loaded two-out single by Jose Iglesias off Jose Ruiz, then added 1 more on Carlos Estevez in the 8th.  

The Phillies bats were kept at bay by Sean Manaea over seven scoreless innings. The Mets’ lefty allowed just three hits over his start with two walks while striking out six.  

Game 4 of this NLDS is Wednesday night at 5:08. Ranger Suarez starts for the Phillies against Jose Quintana.
