This week I talked with Garland Nixon about the illegal and aggressive war that has been launched by US imperialism and its Israeli zionist proxies against Iran.
What are the wider ramifications for the politics and economics of the middle east? What could it mean for workers in Europe and the west?
Apparently, strategists in the White House have been ‘surprised’ by the Iranian people’s robust response to this latest attempt to destroy their independence, integrity and sovereignty. Yet anyone paying attention for the last year knew well what was coming if the imperialists restarted their aggression of last June.
The longer the war continues, the more the economic and military structures of Anglo-American control over the middle east – air and naval bases, embassies, intelligence structures, corporate and oil infrastructure, money-laundering facilities and tech machinery and the entire zionist settler-colony – will come under fire.
And the more that continues, the more the oppressed populations of the region will be motivated to rise up against the illegitimate stooges who rule over them to join with the already-existing Axis of Resistance in their existential fight for the liberation and sovereignty not only of Iran but of all the peoples of west Asia.
Workers in the west are in for a rude awakening if they think this war will leave them unscathed. We must draw the correct conclusions – that imperialism, not the Iranian people, is our real enemy, and that our trade unions and antiwar movement must be remodelled to stand up for our interests against the bloodsucking, warmongering British imperialist financier class.

Rights to exploit Bolivia’s lithium will likely be offered to western investors, instead of the Russian and Chinese companies that were given preferential access by MAS.
Former president Evo Morales and his followers remain the great imponderable of Bolivian politics – the 65-year-old veteran politician still has the power to mobilise masses of the populace. But for the moment, the long-suffering workers of Bolivia will have to look for a more solid strategy to assert the rights and agency that they seemed so close to securing, but which once more have eluded them.

Journalism has a responsibility to distinguish between documentation and propaganda, between verified evidence and politically motivated claims.
The Morning Star used this photograph to accompany its article. Reinforcing the western psyops narrative, it depicts women protesters in Paris demanding ‘freedom’ for Iran and for Iranian women in particular – one of the preferred ‘leftist’ narratives for justifying support for imperialist regime-change aggression. We note that the protesters' signs are written in English, although the protest took place in France, suggesting a staged photo aimed at American audiences.

Comrade Vikki gives this moving presentation to Mark international women’s day 2026.
Drawing in the life of Ursula Kuczynski, a German-Jewish communist who became a high-ranking Soviet spy, code-named "Sonya", she brings out the salient features of Ursula / Sonia’s life.
1. She was a revolutionary, taking her full part in the liberation of the working class.
2. She was incredibly brave, overcoming great obstacles and dangers to play her part in the liberation of humanity.
3. She lived a full and meaningful life, as a cadre, communist, party member, sister, daughter, lover, wife, mother, revolutionary - and Soviet spy.
4. She overcame great obstacles to play a full role in every aspect of her life. Demonstrating the full bravery, capacity and equality of women in practice.
5. Her life demonstrated that “no revolutionary movement can succeed unless very many women take part in it.“ as such the Soviet Union liberated and inspired when as no other movement has done, raising them to full participation in every aspect of social and professional life as equals.
6. That the working class movement must advance the concrete aims of socialised provision of affordable and high quality child care, socialised cleaning services, domestic services, nursery care, schooling, socialised dining rooms / affordable high quality reastaurants for the mass of the working class if women workers are to be liberated from the domestic chores that have been their traditional lot in society. These measures make women free IN PRACTICE to pay their tile in working and running society. They were implemented in full in the USSR and socialist nations.
We need these natures under capitalism and must fight for them. We will provide them under socialism.
We honour Ursula, agent Sonya, who received the order of Lenin for her work in life, and having rendered incalculable service to the working class to vanquish fascism and fight imperialism, spent her retirement in the DDR, writing Children’s books, bringing socialist morality and revolutionary optimism to the next generation of German workers.
We remember and honour every working woman and mother on this day, we celebrate their contribution and sacrifices in raising the next generation and caring so much of humanity’s burden - and we sat frankly: only socialism can bring true liberation to working written of Britain, and all nations.

Working-class Bulgarians have begun to realise the hollowness of bourgeois ‘democracy’ as the decision to join the eurozone is implemented over their protests.
The principled participation of communists in the recent anti-eurozone movement in Bulgaria has done much to bring the movement out of the fringes, where it has languished since the fall of socialism in eastern Europe. The stage is now set for further anti-imperialist struggles as the drive to all-out war in Europe accelerates and Bulgarian comprador elites try to prepare their country as a staging post in Nato’s assault on the Russian Federation.
This statement was made by a representative of the 23 September movement (Движение 23 септември) at the recent ‘Bulgarian people’s anti-imperialist struggle against the euro and the consequences of European economic policy on Greece’ event, held in Greece in January 2026.

The Marxist understanding of the state is that the state is tool of oppression by one class against another class. Naturally then, the modern state with its components (the courts, the police, and the military) are at the fingers of the capitalists who are able to influence them.
As Comrade Brar says in the video, the Zionist project of Israel was created by Anglo-American imperialists who saw it useful to create 'jewish' (in name only) state which they could use to maintain their interests within the middle east. It was not the government at the time who acted based on whims or policies contradictory to today, it was the ruling class who acted then and still acts today in the interests of their capital.
