The Preamble of the Indian Constitution has become a rallying point for lakhs of anti-CAA and NRC protesters across India. The preamble is being read out every single day on the streets of several cities. However, the Hindi version of the Preamble is hardly being read out, possibly because it uses ornate and archaic Hindi. So in this special episode of Puliyabaazi, we attempt a simpler version of the preamble. Our hope here is that listeners will create similar versions of the preamble in other Indian languages. Please do write to us at [email protected] with your versions so that we can compile the preamble in all languages in one place.

नागरिकता संशोधन अधिनियम के कई विरोध प्रदर्शनों में संविधान की उद्देशिका का लाखों-करोड़ों लोग उच्चार कर रहे है | इससे प्रेरणा लेते हुए हमने सोचा कि इस उद्देशिका को सरल भाषा में लिखा जाना चाहिए | इसी प्रयास पर हमारा यह छोटा सा स्पेशल एपिसोड | आशा करते है कि यह सुनकर श्रोतागण साड़ी भारतीय भाषाओँ में उद्देशिका का सरल अनुवाद करेंगे और हमे [email protected] पर भेजेंगे जिससे हम आपके नाम सहित इन संस्करणों को एक साथ पब्लिश करेंगे|

सरल भाषा में संविधान का मुखड़ा कुछ इस प्रकार है:

हम, भारत के लोग, सच्चे मन से भारत को एक
ख़ुदमुख़्तार समाजवादी पंथनिरपेक्ष लोकतांत्रिक गणराज्य में गठित करते हैं
ताकि सभी नागरिकों को मिले:

न्याय - सामाजिक, आर्थिक, और राजनैतिक,
आज़ादी - सोच, इज़हार, यक़ीन, धर्म और इबादत की,
बराबरी - दर्जे और अवसर की,
भाईचारा - जिससे व्यक्ति की गरिमा और देश की एकता दोनों बरक़रार रहे,

इस प्रण के साथ इस संविधान सभा में २६ नवम्बर, १९४९ को यह संविधान अपनाते है |

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria finally met its demise with the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on October 26th. So in this episode of Puliyabaazi we take a look at ISIS, its recruitment methods, its use of technology, and its bureaucracy. Puliyabaazi is fifty episodes old now! To mark this occasion, we return to discussing a foundational text. In this episode, we discuss insights from Nobel Prize laureate Daniel Kahneman’s classic Thinking, Fast and Slow. The work in this book was instrumental in creating a new discipline of economics known as behavioral economics. The central thesis of the book is that human thinking is actually a dichotomy between two different modes of thought: a "System 1" that is fast, instinctive and emotional; and a "System 2" that is slower, more deliberative, and more logical. Joining us to discuss this work is Nidhi Gupta, who researches and teaches behavioural economics.

Fake news, disinformation, misinformation, and social media manipulation — these are elements of perhaps the most significant global story of these times. And yet, this phenomenon remains underexplored. We do not fully understand what causes people to generate, share, and believe in fake propaganda. So in this episode, we discuss the anatomy of fake news with Pratik Sinha, editor and co-founder of AltNews — a fact-checking website that debunks misinformation on social and mainstream media.
