Quickly Kevin; will he score? The 90s Football Show

S11 EP3: Geoff Norcott on AFC Wimbledon

Joining us this episode to discuss AFC Wimbledon is comedian Geoff Norcott.

We discuss his time as a program seller at Plough Lane, Sam Hammam and his Selhurst Park elephant, and the Crazy Gang in the 90's...

Elsewhere we've got all the usual 90's O Clock news and postbag - Di Canio's goal record comes in for some criticism and of course Peter Shilton rears his head once more...and some big news about the Quickly Kevin Fan Club 2.0 re-boot (headlines: it's better and cheaper!) including the announcement that yes, we'll back for the World Cup in November and December as we go 'topical' with a fans eye view of the tournament and three episodes a week for QK Fan Club members.

Head on over to www.anotherslice.com/quicklykevin for more info and a free listen to EP1 of Steve Bruce's Striker! with Ivo Graham.

See you next week when our guest is the creator of Loaded magazine and Leeds United fan James Brown (Available NOW, yes right now, to QK fan club members)

S11 EP2:  Lee Sharpe

We've been trying to get this man on the show for years ever since his fan club was put under our noses and it's safe to say he didn't disappoint! From Torquay to Bradford via Manchester United, Leeds, Sampdoria and an incredible story about his short lived spell in Iceland! It's our absolute pleasure to welcome to the show the creator of the Sharpe Shuffle, Mr Lee Sharpe...

Elsewhere in the postbag we discuss whether Denis Irwin was overrated (he wasn't - he was excellent) and was George Weah's secret to success an excessive amount of Zzzz's ?....

See you next week when our guest is the brilliant comedian Geoff Norcott who discusses his time as a die hard Wimbledon fan in the 80's and 90's Crazy Gang era... that episode is available NOW to QK Fan Club members over at www.anotherslice.com/quicklykevin

Thanks, Chris, Josh and Michael

S11 EP1: Peter Reid

We're back! And what an honour it is to open the new series with a titan of the football world...

When we first sat down to re-watch Premier Passions all those years ago, we always hoped this day would come so we could finally say the words: "Welcome to Quickly Kevin, Peter Reid".

Not fouling Maradona, being a genuinely decent player manager, cheering up Sunderland, it's all here!

Elsewhere we've got all the usual 90's O Clock news and postbag and some big news about the Quickly Kevin Fan Club 2.0 re-boot (headlines: it's better and cheaper!) including the announcement that yes, we'll back for the World Cup in November and December as we go 'topical' with a fans eye view of the tournament and three episodes a week for QK Fan Club members. S10 EP7: The End of Series 90's Football Quiz

You know the drill by now. It's the QK end of series 90's Footballl Quiz. There will be factual inaccuracies. There will be at least one mention of Peter Shilton. And inevitably, Chris will lose... thanks for listening this series. We'll be back soon with Series 11 and another amazing line-up of guests (feel free to let us know topics / footballers / guests you'd like us to cover in the comments below) and in the meantime we'll see you very soon for the Patreon only Sweeper! Chapter 3 and 4 (the first of which drops this week) and all the usual QK Fan Club bonus content including the tombola prize draw. We've found even more 90's based goodies to give away! The latest addition is some of the Euro 96 yellow water bottles from the iconic Gazza goal celebration against Scotland. What's not to love...

Thanks,

Chris, Josh and Michael.

S10 EP6: Paul Hawksbee on '90 Minutes' magazine and Fantasy Football League

This week it's our absolute pleasure to welcome to QK a man who is part of the fabric, the DNA of 90's football in this country. From co-creating the brilliant '90 Minutes' football magazine to his time as a producer on Fantasy Football League (via time working for Ken Bates at Chelsea) it's a fascinating chat where we don't even manage to get round to discussing Spurs! Enjoy...

In other news, on top of extended 'director of football cuts' of the main series episodes, all QK Fan Club members will now also get the episodes a whole WEEK EARLY - that's right, we now release on a Monday for QK Fan Club members and the following Monday for the non fan club listeners!

We've also got the usual Patreon only bonus episodes every month - later this month it's chapter three of the second book in the Steve Bruce / Barnes murder mystery 'Sweeper!' with Ivo Graham. And on top of that a Patreon only QK Film Club deep dive and watch-a-long of the 1997 film 'Fever Pitch' based on Nick Hornby's seminal book of the same name.

Thanks,

Chris, Josh and Michael.

QKWHS - S10 EP5: Celtic in the 90's with Susie McCabe

Yes, after ten series we finally get round to an entire episode on Scottish football in the 90's. Comedian Susie McCabe joins us to discuss her beloved hoops in the 90's - not the best spell in the clubs history as Rangers were very much the force in Scottish football at the time. But a fascinating period for the club with some real lows that made the highs that followed all the more sweeter...Enjoy!

Elsewhere we've got more team photo japes, and some dignity regained in the end of episode quiz...

New Labour win in an historic election landslide. Eric Cantona retires. Gary Barlow tops the charts. Fever Pitch hits the cinema screens. And Juninho scores the goal of the month... Enjoy!

S10 EP3: Jarlath Regan / Mick McCarthy's Republic of Ireland

We're joined this week by the comedian, presenter and podcaster - Jarlath Regan.

We watch and discuss the superb documentary McCarthy's Park (available on youtube) which takes a look at Mick McCarthy's time in charge of ROI as they try and fail to qualify for the France 1998 World Cup. From the early seeds of troubles with Roy Keane, to hygienic tattoo parlours via some early (but not very effective) video analysis from Mick and his team over a few beers. It's a brilliant watch. And a different time.

Elsewhere in the postbag we discuss Peter Shilton's tiny hands. George Weah as Prime Minister of Liberia, and players wearing the wrong shirts. Enjoy!

Jarlath's brilliant podcast 'An Irishman Abroad' is available wherever you get your podcasts and the book he mentions 'Champagne Football' by Mark Tighe + Paul Rowan is well worth a read.

In other news, on top of extended 'director of football cuts' of the main series episodes, all QK Fan Club members will now also get the episodes a whole WEEK EARLY - that's right, we now release on a Monday for QK Fan Club members and the following Monday for the non fan club listeners!

S10 EP2: Joe Wilkinson on Gillingham FC

This episode we chat to the brilliant comedian Joe Wilkinson about his love of Gillingham FC in the 90's and beyond. Not only a love letter to lower league football and all it entails, but this episode also contains perhaps one of our favourite ever (loosely) football related anecdotes... just why was he running? And where to? Or from? Answers on a postcard....

In other news, on top of extended 'director of football cuts' of the main series episodes, all QK Fan Club members will now also get the episodes a whole WEEK EARLY - that's right, we now release on a Monday for QK Fan Club members and the following Monday for the non fan club listeners!
