Groups of older women have been raging – nonviolently – for peace, justice, and progressive causes in general for years. They are called the Raging Grannies and have 60 chapters in the US. Dressing in aprons, shawls, and outrageous hats, the Grannies riff on the stereotype of the “sweet little old lady” in order to deliver their strong opinions and satirical song lyrics.
They rage at demonstrations, city halls, state legislatures and wherever they can sing their protest song lyrics. The Raging Grannies provide a positive example of channeling rage and despair. Our guest today is Raging Grannie Vicki Rider.
