This week we chatted to Chaitanya Deva - also known as Chai. A yogi, yoga teacher, studio owner and teacher trainer based in Nelson, NZ. Chai is an incredibly interesting and insightful being, who has a unique quality of being able to capture some of the most esoteric topics and humanise them and relate them to our everyday experience.
Ever since training under Chai for my first ever YTT, Alex has revered him as a teacher and a guide in this life, as do so many others.
Chai is a 500 hour registered yoga teacher, a therapeutic massage therapist, a reiki practitioner, and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. He is also a Father, a Husband and a business owner
Chai is a guy who has lived much of his life away from mainstream culture and often in various lanes of extremes. From growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness to joining the punk rock scene in South Auckland in the 60’s, to arriving in India on the day of one of its biggest social uprisings in its modern history .. spending time with his Father at Osho’s ashram in the North of India, and exploring the all nighter party and psychedelics scene in the South. Chai sure does have some amazing stories to tell, and what all of these experiences have led to is his deep understanding of the various layers and identities we layer ourselves with - and how these affect how we come to witness and experience the world.
Chai talks about the power of meditation to help us transcend all this, and even gifts us a mini guided meditation within this episode to help us connect with who we truly are at our core. I highly recommend listening right to the end of this chat as Chai shares so many enlightened insights into how the practice of yoga can help us to release our conditioning, drop into a state of being, and become aware of the void .
This conversation will leave you feeling amazing and in awe of creation and our existence within it, and hopefully that little more connected to your inner light.
Are you ready to deep dive? Lets do it ..
