Welcome to the new show name, Wake Up with Weslie.
After taking a deep dive into the history and reality of racial injustices this past week, I discovered that I was using the word "woke" irresponsibly. Woke is a title..more like an honor...to hopefully one day attain. It is a part of my mission now here on Wake Up with Weslie to keep this conversation going, and to continue to educate myself on the very real issues of racial injustice.
In the past week I've realized how helpless I feel in all this.
We can post a black square, hold back our personal content, donate money, protest, and vote...and even then it doesn't feel like enough. I feel, personally, that more needs to be done. As the shame waters got deeper, I realized the most important thing I can do right now is continue to educated myself, follow even more amazing black women in real life and on instagram who know what their talking about, and take accountability for anything I've done in ignorance in the past. When I know better, I vow to do better. I will teach my kids to do better.
A part of knowing better and doing better is re-branding this podcast.
Bronson Christensen, my husband, is the master at building brands--and for this, I am so grateful.
In this episode we talk about the importance of having a brand with soul, what differentiates brands, and future plans for Wake Up with Weslie.
