On this episode, Cory sits down with Jon and Patty Tebeilus of Bowden, ND, whom were selected as the 2025 RAAA Commercial Producer of the Year.  Jon and Patty have been raising and marketing commercial Red Angus animals for over 20 years.  Throughout this podcast you will hear about different strategies, management practices, and technology they utilize that helps them extract as much data and knowledge out of their cowherd.  Many of these practices have helped them set themselves apart and find their niche in a competitive market place.  From utilizing Igenity Beef, enrolling in Angus Access, and marketing backgrounded steers and replacement heifers through multiple methods, throughout the podcast, we'll hear why this Award was so well deserved.  If there are any questions for Jon and Patty, please don't hesitate to reach out to Cory.

Tune in to the 2nd segment of  Cory and Taylor's discussion with Colonel Matt Lowery.  The second half of the discussion pivoted to establishing a successful seedstock marketing plan.   Matt gives his insights on things to consider for young producers when establishing their first production sales, not only for Red Angus animals, but for all breeds.  This includes selections for auctioneers, marketing and advertising, and animal preparation.  These episodes were incredibly educational for Cory and Taylor.  Take a listen!

This week, Cory and Taylor introduce the newly formed GridMaster Challenge!  The Red Angus GridMaster Challenge (GMC) was created by the RAAA Marketing Team as an educational opportunity for Red Angus members and commercial producers.  Participants will have firsthand opportunities to learn about the fed cattle sector of the beef industry and learn more about their herd’s performance and carcass genetics.  Additionally, producers will be exposed to the various tools available through the Association and in the industry to help benchmark and make improvements in their herd, including carcass ultrasounding, Igenity Beef, and feet and leg scoring.  The Challenge will be hosted by the Tri-County Steer Carcass Futurity (TCSCF) with the host yard being Nilan Feedyard of Oakland, IA.  The enrollment deadline is November 15th, 2025.  For further information, please visit the link below or reach out directly to Taylor or Cory.

At this year's annual RAAA National Convention, Taylor and Cory hosted the capstone discussion for this year's Learn from the Best class, which consisted of a panel discussion including Sam Twedt, Kyley DeVoe, and Jesse Weber.  Sam Twedt (Twedt Red Angus) and Jesse Weber (Weber Land and Cattle) are both winners of the RAAA Seedstock Producer of the Year award within the last three years, while Kyley DeVoe (3K Land and Cattle) was the outgoing RAAA President.  Questions were submitted prior to the event by participants and were asked to the panel during the discussion.  Attendees also had the opportunity to ask additional questions throughout the discussion.  Questions varied from most impactful mentors and seedstock animals, trends within the breed, how to become involved in the Association, and many more.  To learn more about Learn from the Best or to listen to prior Learn from the Best content on the podcast, please follow the links below.
