The Red Sox (28-31) The Red Sox avoided a 6th straight loss with a 5-1 win over the Atlanta Braves Friday night at Truist Park. The win also ended the Red Sox 6-game road losing streak. The Red Sox 5 relieves combined for 4.1 scoreless innings. Abraham Toro went 3-for-4 with a 2-out, RBI Double in the 6th that put the Red Sox up by 2 runs. Aroldis Chapman worked a 1-2-3 9th with 2 strikeouts to end it.

The Home Run Story: Trevor Story put the Red Sox in front 2-1 with a 2-out, 2-run Home Run in the Top of the 4th Inning. It was Story's 7th Home Run of the season and 1st in 58 at-bats. The Red Sox are now 7-0 when Story goes yard this season.

Giolito Takes the Mound: Lucas Giolito made the start in the series opener Friday night, and he went 4.2 innings against the Braves. Giolito gave up his only run in the 1st Inning when Matt Olson delivered with an RBI Single. Giolito threw 85 pitches during his outing, and he's allowed 1 run over his last 2 outings after going 7 scoreless the last time out against the Orioles.

#'s of the Day: Red Sox Starting Pitchers Have 1 WIN in LAST 17 Games and have gone 12 straight games without a Winning Decision. The Red Sox are now 7-6 in Inter-League play.  Sox are 11-16 in May with 1 more to go for the month.

Roster Moves- Reliever Liam Hendriks was played on the IL Friday due to right hip inflammation. The move is retroactive to Wednesday. Reliever Nick Burdi was also recalled from Triple-A Worcester. It's Burdi's 2nd stint of the season with the Red Sox.

What's On Tap?: The Red Sox and Braves will have day games Saturday and Sunday in Atlanta. Walker Buehler and Spencer Schwellenbach are the probable starting pitchers for Saturday.  Garrett Crochet is slated to face Bryce Elder in the series finale on Sunday. The Sox return home and begin a 3-game series with the Angels Monday night at Fenway Park. The Red Sox and Yankees will open up their 1st series of the season in the Bronx on Friday, June 6th.
