The Red Sox saw their 5-game win streak come to an end with a 6-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in the series opener at Fenway Park Monday night. It's the Red Sox 1st loss of the season at Fenway.  The Jays scored 5 of their 6 runs with 2 outs against Red Sox pitchers. George Springer had 3 2-out RBI singles for the Blue Jays, who ended a 3-game losing streak.

At the Plate: The Red Sox were held to 1 run on 3 hits over the first 7 innings by Jose Berrios. The Sox were 0-for-4 with Runners In Scoring Position and struck out 2 times vs. the Jays starting pitcher. Jarren Duran had a pair of Doubles, both against Berrios in the loss. The Red Sox were 1-for-11 with Runners In Scoring Position in the loss.

Hang A Star On That 1!: Bo Bichette swung at the first pitch of the game from Richard Fitts and sent a shot to right-center field that was caught by Ceddanne Rafaela on the warning track and up against the short wall in front of the bullpen.  We'll call it Rafaela's best catch of the season so far.

Fitts On The Hill: Richard Fitts, who was originally scheduled to pitch on Saturday against the Cardinals, took the ball in the opener against the Blue Jays Monday night.  Fitts gave up 2 runs in the 3rd and 1 more run in the 5th.  George Springer got him for a pair of RBI singles.  Fitts worked a 1-2-3 2nd & retired the side in order again in the 4th. The Red Sox turned 2 double plays with Fitts on the hill. He ended up starting a 1-6-3 DP in the 6th. The play was challenged, and batter/runner was ruled out on runner's interference.

Red Sox Make A Trade: The Red Sox traded Pitcher Quinn Priester to the Milwaukee Brewers for minor league outfielder Yophery Rodriguez, a competitive balance pick (#33) in the 2025 MLB Draft and a player to be named later or cash considerations on Monday. Rodriguez was touted as the 7th-best prospect in the Brewers system according to MLB Pipeline. He’s 19 and started this season off at the Advanced-A Level. Priester was acquired from the Pirates last July for infielder Nick Yorke. Priester made his MLB debut on the final day of the 2024 Regular Season, and he aarned the win vs. the Tampa Bay Rays.

What's On Tap?: The Sox & Blue Jays continue their series Tuesday night at Fenway Park. Garrett Crochet is set to make his 3rd start of the season and his first at Fenway Park.  Crochet tossed 8 scoreless and earned his 1st win of the season last time out in Baltimore.  Easton Lucas is scheduled to make his 2nd start of the season for the Blue Jays.  Tuesday & Wednesday have 6:45 scheduled 1st-Pitch. Series wraps Thursday with a day game at 4:10 p.m. EST.
