The Red Sox (65-55) rallied late but fell short and dropped a 7-6 decision to the Houston Astros in the series opener Monday night at Daikin Park in Houston, TX. The Sox have lost 3 in a row and 4 of 5 since winning 7 in a row.  The loss snaps the Sox streak of 19 straight wins when scoring 5 or more runs.

Crochet Day: Garrett Crochet was staked to an early 2-0 lead, but lasted just 4 Innings and took his first loss since May 26 on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers.  Crochet gave up 3 runs in the 3rd Inning. Carlos Correa got the Astros on the board with an RBI Single. Christian Walker put the Astros in front with a 2-out, 2-run Double. Jazz McCormick put Houston up 5-2 with a 2-run Home Run off Crochet in the 4th Inning. Crochet exited after throwing 86 pitches over 4 Innings of work. He gave up 5 earned runs on 7 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 5.

Sox at the Dish: The Sox had a 2-0 lead 2 batters into the game against Christian Javier. Roman Anthony led off with a Single and Alex Bregman followed with a 2-run Home Run in his 1st at-bat in his 1st game back in Houston. Javier, Kaleb Ort and Hector Neris combined to retire 12 straight hitters until Neris gave up a 2-out, solo Home Run to Abraham Toro in the 7th.  It was Toro's 7th of the season and 2nd vs. The Astros. Ceddanne Rafaela followed with a Double and he scored on a Pinch-Hit Double from Masa Yoshida. After a pitching change, Roman Anthony pulled the Sox to within a run with a 2-Run Home Run to make it 7-6.  Anthony struck out in the 9th with the tying run at 2nd to end the game.

At-Bat of the Game: Ramon Urias hit a 2-out, 2-run Home Run off Jordan Hicks in the 5th Inning and that put the Astros up, 7-2.

--It was Bregman's 15th Home Run of the season and his 6th this season in the 1st-Inning. 

--Roman Anthony went (2-for-5) with a 2-run Home Run in Monday night's series opener and has hit safely in 4 in a row and 12 of 13.

--Trevor Story went (0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts) Monday night and is 1-for-16 with 8 strikeouts on the Sox current road trip.  

--The Red Sox are 3-5 in series openers since the all-star break.  Lost 1st 4 out of the break and then won 3 in a row.     

--It's the 13th time this season where the Red Sox hit 3 Home Runs in a Game (10-3).

What's On Tap?: The Red Sox and Astros continue their series Tuesday night in Houston.  Dustin May will make his 2nd start with the Red Sox and will face RHP Spencer Arrighetti in Game 2.  Walker Buehler faces RHP Hunter Brown in Wednesday's finale.  After Wednesday, the Sox return home and open up a 3-game series with the Miami Marlins on Friday.  The Red Sox will also have a 2-game series with the Baltimore Orioles that starts next Monday.  The Red Sox have 42 games remaining in the Regular Season with 22 on the road and 20 at Fenway.
